ℹ️About the episode:
This episode is a continuation of last week’s video in Big Sur, CA. We left Pfeiffer State Park Campground, grabbed a cappuccino from Big Sur Bakery and traveled further down the stunning Highway 1. Along the route, we stopped at Kirk Creek Campground on our way to Pismo Beach (Oceana Dunes) to do some first-ever beach camping.
Will we beach camp again? Probably not. Lots of fun, once. We prefer to near the beach, but not on it :)
No trip to San Luis Obispo is complete without stopping at the SLO Farmers Market every Thursday but bring your apatite!

I swear, I love watching your family so much. I have never met anyone in my entire 27 years on this earth that radiates so much kindness and love to one another and everyone they meet... it’s so hard to find people like you all! Sunday nights seeing a video posted from your channel brings an instant smile to my face. Turn frowns upside down, and provides me hope that someday I will be experiencing the world in the same fashion. ❤️ from Kentucky! I hope I get a chance to meet you all someday.

I grew up in Arroyo Grande and surfed often before school at Pismo and Shell Beach. My dad was a cattle rancher there. I still have a house in AG but moved near Yosemite NP in the Sierras. I'm glad that you enjoyed your time on the beach, I spent as much time there as I could growing up. Not to sound selfish but I moved my full time residence to the Mountains to get away from the tourists on the Central Coast. We visit often but enjoy our solitude. We have been full time RV'ers in the past as well and still take our trailer out often on extended trips. I enjoy your channel and content.

We camped at Galveston Island State Park, TX, a short path to the Gulf. Most beautiful natural beach. Sleeping with the windows open, gulf breezes blowing the curtains and the sound of the waves hitting the sand all night is a time I will never forget. I can smell the salt air even now. Thanks for bringing back those memories. Loved this video. ❤️

I have become addicted to your channel, your family is so positive and together,... even if it's only on camera, lol. I'm sure Trish knows this, but I don't know if you do, you don't wash your cast iron pans, after use just wipe them clean then put them away. If they ever get rusty, just coat with cooking oil and put them in an outdoor fire. People want to use a dishwasher on them and that's the best way to ruin them.

So fun seeing this episode!! We lived in Arroyo Grande for 2 years. We were 1.5 miles from the Oceano Dunes entrance. Every Thursday we would drive to Pismo for dinner and then drive our Rubicon onto the beach via the Pismo entrance to watch the sunset. Best 2 years of our lives. Our Rubicons license plate in FNDSND (Found Sand). FYI anytime of the year Th- Sunday the dunes are crazy insane with campers! Glad you enjoyed our old neck of the woods!!

My dad was a full time RV-er from retirement in 1969 till 2000. He stayed in Pismo for about his last 5 years, and you're right about the corrosion . His truck and trailer were seemingly held together by rust alone. I still have his '87 Toyota, and with the help of ample baling wire and Gorilla Tape, she's still going strong.

Solvang, home of Anderson's Split Pea Soup and the Green Monster (if you're into land speed records) :-) We once were camped on the beach at Pismo (1970) where you drove down a wooden ramp to get to the beach. We were sitting in my 1965 VW camper eating dinner when a jogger went by giving us a curious look. He turned back and jogged over to us and asked me what I thought we were doing. I said "eating dinner" He said "ok but that's the water line behind you and the tide is coming in" ! Holy Yikes !!! We scrambled into action and had to drive out into the ocean to get started up the base of the wooden ramp which had waves washing up it. Literally another minute and all would have been lost :-) btw .... I just published the Part 2 of the 10 year anniversary of Travels with Yoly. 10 years, 11 campers, 115,000 miles and 400 videos :-)

I'm not all that familiar with your videos, so this may be old news...... but I just wanted to mention that if you ever end up back in the Morro Bay area, a detour to Montaña de Oro would be well worth it. The rock formations on the beach there is amazing. I haven't been there for about fifteen years, so things could have changed, but it used to be a five to ten minute drive through the town of Los Osos proper and the street you're on takes you right into the park. For me, it's magical. They never charged to get in-- no gated entrance or anything. That has likely changed. The one other thing I wanted to mention has to do with how great the weather was when you did this trip. You do get some winter-type weather during winter/spring months, but generally from about October to March, the weather is spectacular on the California coast. The rest of the year you see more of the really dense fog typical of the beach. Enjoyed the video -- glad I checked it out when it showed up in my feed.

Good to see the drone spread its wings. Growing up in Monterey I thought the entire US had access to areas such as the Central California Coast; Big Sur, Yosemite, Lake Tahoe and, at the time, America's most beautiful city (San Francisco). It wasn't until my mid-20 that I learned the remainder of America was "Geographically Disadvantaged". Thank you for the visit.

You are in my “neck of the woods” and even though you just passed through it, Morro Bay is where my heart is. We also did the Pismo Dunes back in September and it was packed, but we did it with friends and in a tent. One and done with a tent, but I think we will try one night in our Thor Wanderer (Wandy)! I think it’ll be one and done as well. I was so excited when I got your notifications for this episode and I love learning about different ideas and places to see. SLO farmers market is a must go for anyone in the area. As a kid we always stayed at Morro Bay and San Simone (sp?), we always went to Cayucas, Avila, Oceano and Los Osos trail is great place to hike and Morro Bay State Park is next to an estuaries with lots of wildlife to take in. See y’all next Sunday ❤️

As native Venturans, we visited Pismo, San Luis, Solvang all the time. Funny enough, we really don't know much about LA and points south. My wife's great-grandmother taught school at the one-room schoolhouse at San Simeon, CA. Froze our butts off one time sleeping in the bed of my truck when we were ATV-ing at Pismo. I think we were 17. Ahhh memories. Noooooooo! You missed Ventura!

Marc and Trish, We discovered your KZbin channel about a month ago. I had been considering the move to purchase an RV (likely a travel trailer) when I had come across your “RV Newbie clip”. I watched it and it caught my attention. My wife is a pretty hard sell on these types of things, however I got her to watch it and she was instantly intrigued. After bouncing around with a few videos we decided to start from the beginning and now we are absolutely hooked!!!! We just love the entire family and are so impressed by the entire production and its evolution. We watch a few episodes each night in hopes that we will catch up. We actually go through withdrawal when we have missed a few days. I don’t know what we are going to do when we are totally caught up!? We are currently enjoying season three, especially since we are from the west coast and now currently reside in Prosser WA (Home of the Washington Wine Movement). We actually have a very well respected RV park here in town! My wife and I went to Humboldt State University for undergrad and agree Eureka is not the most pleasant place. Pfeiffer State park is one of my all-time favorite places to camp. We are currently watching the current season as well and can’t wait for each week’s new video. It is rare that you find something that is so heartwarming and relatable like your family and it’s communication with the world in such a short amount of time. We are always excited to see what the kids are up to and how the journey is unraveling. My wife Julie and I had tears streaming down our face during the clip of “We will Miss you Maddie”, especially since we lost our beloved companion of 13 years old about two years ago. We really felt for your family even though we are late to the channel. We have two boys, Liam and Jameson and let me tell you, Jameson is a Ginger in every sense of the name sake. We are planning to purchase our first travel trailer this coming spring so that we can start making meaningful memories as a family. You have been so inspirational in so many ways, from family first, to health examples and impressing on how important it is to follow your dreams and make new ones a reality. I have been meaning to post this for some time now and just got to it. We joined the KYD insider today and we are so excited to be a small part of the Great Thing you and your family are providing. Thank you Marc, Trish, the Kids and Charlie. Brian and Julie

Plans certainly change at the drop of a hat. Had a game plan to keep my older car, buy our step 1 dream motor home (mid size class C) in January 2021. Ugh!! Hit a dear last night and my elderly subaru is totalled! Now shopping for an SUV that can manage a smallish tow trailer. Full circle from the trailer we bought in error 3 years ago. Too heavy, too damaged, too long. But I learned a lot. Baby steps! My daughter has the assignment of a KYD summer to remember drawing for your contest. We love our harvest host membership (though only able to use this with rentals so far) . . . here's hoping we can win a renewal! (We rented a class C, stayed at a Harvest Host berry farm in our home state of Connecticut last summer. Can't wait to go back!) And my dream tow vehicle falls in to place. Thank you so much for all the info, perspectives, and honesty. Thank you so much for taking us along for the journey. Safe travels!

Awesome spot love watching your travels Trish cracks me up. Oh yeah as always Tiffin class A. You can't forget there is a huge RV market most of America can't afford 300k to 500k. Buying a new bus comes with a year break in fixing a odds and ends. So consider a beautiful used Tiffin honestly it is rolling freedom with an accessible kitchen and bathroom while driving. Mike

Your teardrop experience was very interesting. My wife and I have been long time tent campers and many of the less pleasant things you experienced was relatable for us. Cold in the morning, cooking outside when windy and cold. Add to that sleeping closer to the ground and getting up and going outside at night to use the bathroom. After a 2 week trip last fall through Utah and Colorado car/tent camping we decided we really needed a travel trailer. We just got a 15 ft GeoPro. It's just enough to be outside most of the time, but we're able to be inside when we have nasty weather, or when it's a bit cold and you want that first cup of coffee! Skipping Solvang was a good move. It's a nice little town, but not sure it's worth 4 hours in traffic. But there's great dry camping in the area. Maybe next time. Still amazed with you video talents!

I dont know if you knew of him or you simply got it off of your music package, but I'm really enjoying it. You are sharing more than just your families experiences. Safe travels.

Watching this in July. What a difference 4 months make. Soooo jealous. Stuck home. Neeed to get back on the road. First need to get an RV. Got rid of our C and looking at getting an A. Was suppose to be on a trip from Jasper to Banff (one of our favorite RV trips!) Your trip in Cali is another fav. Stay safe and Healthy during this pandemic and keep on truckin!!

Good thing about Pismo Beach when you leave the dunes there is a self serve car wash rt there to rinse the sand and salt off.

Hey Marc and Trish! Thank you so much for posting that picture of us meeting at the end! It was a special moment for me, as I have been following you guys for a long time! How cool was that! We have actually never gone camping on the dunes before, not sure why when we are so close...looked amazing! Cheers!

PISMO!!! I grew up going to Pismo...still go there, actually! It really would've been cool if the 3 of you rented quads or a sand car to go play in the dunes because your perspective of Pismo would have been different when you left!

Pismo is one of our all-time favorite places to camp...great memories of flipping the quad w/i 10 minutes of arrival, swamping the new F250 dually, getting yanked out by a Ram, drinking Martinis on the trailer watching the Motor Parade, dogs dogs and more dogs...its not for wimps... btw folks, pack in/pack out - ya'll leave a hell of a mess!

Wednesday mornings in arroyo grande not far from where you were camping is farmers market. Arroyo grande village (downtown) has some cute shops and restaurants but the coolest is the swinging suspension bridge, and the free range chickens crossing the roads. Dinosaur caves is okay great for taking small children to the pro or walks at sunset but it’s harder to get to beach access. You might enjoy the monarch butterfly sanctuary you probably passed it driving to the dunes. During peak season people park all along the side of HWY 1 last year the cars had parked so far back Pismo was completely packed the cars reaches Oceano. Hopefully parking next year will be better. Thank for visiting our community.

We used to stay at Pismo State beach when we lived in Bakersfield. Only stayed once out on the beach. They used to advertise it as $10 bucks per night and "all the sand you can eat!"

We have a 41ft Class A with a Jeep as a toad. About 53ft total. We drove from Hearst Castle to Monterey on Highway 1. Sketchy for sure but doable with a bit of experience. You guys definitely could have done it in your last rig or a Class A

So beautiful is the scenery and to be on the beach like that, well, I've only ever seen it in a movie and now on your channel. lol I can imagine it was awesome, but not one that would need to be repeated. That dang Caleb, I just love him and his wit! As always, the video ended way to soon for me and now I am waiting in anticipation for this weeks. Hugs, Brenda

I know you are close to pull trigger on an airstream but i have another suggestion. You really seem to like the off-road camping but Trish really needs a kitchen, shower etc. have you looked at the Black series campers. Seems like it would give you best of both worlds. Just an idea.

Another amazing episode full of breathtaking views and fun experiences. Being a Canadian we watched the wide world of Disney every Sunday and California Beach Movie and thought California was so amazing and your trip down highway one confirms it. Charlie is so big and he looks like he could chill or have fun with any fun loving two legged or four legged characters he comes across. ☺️👍👍👍

From Charlie’s running and adorable flapping ears on the beach, to Caleb’s explanation of where to put the brass. Every video you guy’s make, the drone footage, music, food and laughter is a highlight of my Sunday. Why wouldn’t you like to camp more on the beach? Did the sand come in between everything? And rust? We here in the little republic of tartan (Nova Scotia) we know all about rust. We undercoat our vehicles and RV’s! Just wish the videos were longer🤗.

Best strawberries we've ever had were from a farmers market in California! Stunning footage and beautiful music! We didn't get down route 1 because of the landslides in 2017, so hope to get there next time we are on the west coast. Watching this episode certainly renewed the desire!
