1st Armoured Division was a truly elite unit of the Polish Armed Forces in WW2. Unit that after quite successful resist to the invading Germans and Russians in 1939 (the only fully armoured and motorized unit of the Polish Army) was able to evacuate to Hungary and from there to France. Fought again in 1940 in France, evacuated to UK where deployed to defend Scottish coast in Firth of Forth, Edinburgh area , after D-Day distinguished itself at Falaise in Normandy, Ypres, liberated Antwerp and Breda and took main base of the German Kriegsmarine, Wilhelmshafen. After the war soldiers unable to return to the Russian occupied Poland did resettle mostly UK and Commonwealth countries and the US. Its Commander gen Maczek was previously Polish-Austrian officer in WW1, the only non Tyrolean who served during the Great War as an officer of the elite Kaiserjeager Tyrolean Regiment. He always did appreciate the movement and deep strikes against the enemy. Like most of the best generals of the Polish Armed Forces of WW2 he did graduate from the elite Austrian - Hungarian Army War Academy.

At 0:31 i'm sure the man with the lady on the right has to be my grandparents. They both look very similar... I'll have to confirm it with my older family members but i'm almost certain of it. Amazing if it is

One of 9.Coy./Netherlands Interior Forces ( 9.Compagnie Nederlandse Binnenlandse Strijdkrachten ) who actually was an occupant of those trenches of Tholen Island to Moerdijk is still alive.
