Hi Iain, I really hope you read this. I'd like to let you know that during early 2014, I was enrolled in Health Sciences here in Australia. I knew I didn't like the course and was looking into other fields. I stumbled across your BBC Men of Rock series, and I was immediately intrigued. Last year I graduated with my undergrad in Geology. Thank you for inspiring me and showing me how wonderful geology is!

I have a geological question. I’ve noticed that there have been numerous seismic events worldwide over the past few weeks or more. Earthquakes, increased volcanic activity, landslides and flash floods all leave me curious as to why now? Is there a significance to these events, or am I just being overly concerned. There isn’t much seismic activity in the area of Ontario, Canada where I reside, although I have experienced two minor earthquakes in my life. There’s a fault line under Lake Ontario and when I lived in Toronto there was a quake strong enough to dislodge the kitchen cupboards off the wall. Here in eastern Ontario where I now live, there was a mild earthquake with an epicentre in Quebec Provence several years ago. Shook my house a bit, no damage. Pardon my rambling, but I’m concerned about the recent activity I’ve heard of in the news and seen on KZbin. Thanks, by the way, for your intriguing documentaries. I’ve seen all of them on BBC Earth on cable TV. I enjoy them immensely.

Plymouth is very lucky to have this, would this careers fair be open to geology students from other universities?
