The easiest way to get the firelance is to go to a place where random encounters happen (the best one would probably be the destroyed building near ten penny tower), save away from the building (or whatever location you've chosen) and move closer to activate the encounter, if it's not the encounter you want just reload and do it again, it should be different almost every time.

Just a PSA: the best place to grind for the Firelance is the anchorage memorial since there are no roofs the gun can get stuck on top of. If you really want it save before you reach it then reload until you get the weapon.

I've only recently just acquired Paulson's revolver and I got to tell you I like the power of it even though it's not the best 44 caliber pistol you can use in the game but when I shoot it it sounds like multiple shotgun shooting off the same time very powerful gun if you want it close to mid-range headshot.

On Firelance...if you see the explosion in your area you can go back and get it later. When it spawns into the game it stays where it falls. I saw the trigger event and went back after several days in game and it and the cells were there.

I like the Atomic Pulverizer. With the proper perks, it can do over 55 damage. That's stronger than Lincoln's Repeater. It's also durable and if you're frugal with its ammo (best to bring your own weapons so as to save it) , you can have over 5800 Alien Power Modules.

(I am actually Riley Sutton, using my mom's account for this.) There is another way to get Colonel Autumn's 10mm pistol (and uniform). During the "Waters Of Life" quest, while Col. Autumn is talking to James, aka Dad, exit and immediately re-enter the purifier room. Autumn will stand on the other side of the bulkhead door, but will continue his scripted dialogue until James activates the purifier. Once Col. Autumn falls to the ground outside the bulkhead door, you will be able to obtain the colonel's uniform and gun.
