Yeah, you add like a platform or something that is able to lift it up a bit more, and keep it stable, so it doesn't lean when you drive off (which is probably what caused it to glitch in the first place)

Hi ScrapMan, you may be able to manage to go for your elevator idea by assisting the pistons with a set of thrusters under the plateform. The whole platform would be a little more thick (to hide the thruster eventualy), but it could maybe use the pistons to guide the thrusters up to the base. I have a base with a pretty big elevator made with thrusters and guided in a tower. This system could compensate the pistons "weakness".

When the elevator comes up and starts slowing down, you can make some kind of hooks that grab some parts on the elevator that are shaped so they can be grabbed by a robotic hand. When the elevator is grabbed, you can make a second button that pulls the elevator up with those robotic hands. I hope you like the idea. I love your videos!

There should be a platform underneath the elevator that deploys after the elevator fully retracts to A) Keep the platform stable when vehicles drive off it, and B) to bring it to a somewhat more level height with vehicles that way it down. It doesn't even have to be a proper platform, just a little rim to do so.

2 adjustements you can make : control every séries of 10 pistons sequentially, it might reduce the speed of the elevator and the glitchy things that are happening. I also noticed that the offset when it's contracted is happening on the piston at the top, welding a second piston with it might help with the strengh !

Another cool addition you can add to your base is a Landing Pad extending off center at the top of base to land your aircrafts. As for the elevator, to stabilize the heavy weight add some thrusters along with pistons on 4 corners instead of 2 sides like you had. It can add the strength you need to have consistent and stabilized lift. =D

Hey Scrap Maen, I watched your video and I've got an idea: what if, instead of doing a piston elevator, you do a car lifter with thrusters that's not attached to ANY platform that you control? I know it's not exactly what you're aiming for, but there are some added bonuses to having a ferry-ship: 1. you could take it anywhere 2. except for thrusters, there wouldn't be any problems- you might could even build it off camera! The idea is simple: have a small platform, thrusters on bottom, seat to the side, have a railing on the edges, and have a part of the railing that opens and closes. I also had the same issue on my constructing 14 story elevator Piston elevator, and a lift didn't work, but it acted that the pistons were crazy shaking, and accidentally deleted a block that conects the frame to the elevator, and half of the elevator got unwired. It was still lagging still, but somehow it stopped lagging. That's my story. So you're not the only one with this issue.

Put the pistons on the ground instead (maybe with a ramp up to the platform depending on where you place the pistons). Not only will it be more stable and less laggy that way (since they can't be over-extended that way), but you can then make the garage multi-level using some logic gates to adjust which pistons activate when. Also, halve the piston speed if possible (I can't remember if you already set the speed to minimum), and maybe add an actual elevator shaft to secure it in place. A controller-based locking system (using a pair of wooden beams that forces the elevator platform upwards) could compensate for the weight issues. To make the elevator shaft steampunk treehouse-y, cover it in brown pipes that branch off like actual tree branches. Also, octopus tentacles have their own nervous systems, so they'll move around on their own if you sever them.

I'd use the modded pistons by Durf that can expand a lot longer (256 afaik) so you don't need to stack 30 pistons. They`re a lot stronger, too! Camodo used them on his underwater base on all four corners of the elevator. Also, when going steampunk, add like a balloon to the top of the base and maybe some props to make it look like an airship! You could have the water flowing from the airship house then. That'd be awesome! :D

You could use some sort of steampunk zeppelin or balloon to make it look like your base is attached/hanging from it and you could use the "guide wires or ropes" to make it look like the entire structure is tethered to the ground. I could be a simpler solution and would fit the over all steampunk theme.

i saw my creation on lift list. Glad u checked it out. Make some really light car to drive the elevator. U can make a really wide brigde to the top of the base so u can drive the longer cars there. And make a seat on elevator so u wont get bounced of.

You should build like a bigger bridge under the bridge for people to walk across so that the vehicles can drive under the people on each side with each bridge and you could build a elevator for the bridges under so they could drive across so they don't have as much as a problem if they makes sense love your Vids

I’m sure this has been said but putting a latch system at the top position would be beneficial. If issues persist modify the lift to have pistons in all four corners to increase stability.

surround the elevator fully in glass. This should stop it from moving around. Then use a bearing mechanism which pushes the elevator up to floor level. Ie. Bars on bearings attached to the floor in a way that it will rotate the bars in a wheel rotation direction. Then get these bars to rotate toward the docked elevator & push it up when they become flush to the ground. I don't know if this makes sense so if anyone reading this understands can they describe it better?

I really like that water effect thing, sounds interesting, also like the cliff garage idea... You could maybe do an open concept style hanging off the cliff, ( a solid window pane going all along the wall, with a bit of the floor floating off cliff with the window), (Tony stark house that got destroyed)

You should have a special hover craft that holds cars and locks them in with pistons. You should use that to bring it up to a garage with really big doors.

just leave a 1 block space between the elevator plate and the base. Then when its in place, lock it in the corners (1 block beneath the plate to hold it, and 1 block on each side to immobilize it) same on the ground.

Don't connect the piston elevator to the base and let it hang. Put it on the floor and use it to lift the things up to the sky base.

use bearings under the elevator platform so that when the elevator goes up the bearings connected to a piece of wood flips 180 degrees and supports the elevator platform when there is a load on it

What if you make the edges with corner blocks (those half ones) if the elevator misses it will autocorrect itselve, or a more techinical solution: A few extra pistons so you can get more angles.

Make an elevator just like that, but have 4 of the 30 piston things at each corner, and if you can, make the piston extend/retract one at a time, it will be slower but more stable

first, find a way to center the vehicles, next use more pistons, yes I heard you, next, if you redo it, have the post one push up, and either way they should be slower. Finally, thrusters may help with the final lift.

I know an instant fix for your elevator being heavy you need to go on the workshop and get the "ultra light and heavy blocks" from the workshop I don't know it's exact name so just put "ultra light blocks" or something to do with "ultra light" anyways the blocks are like 100 times lighter than a wooden block maybe even lighter, but I didn't check, all I know is that the mod comes with blocks that are extremely light and can make the floor of your elevator virtually weightless.

I have an idea for a scoop arm that ENCLOSES the vehicle inside and slowly goes up, When it will get inside the base it will automatically raise the scoop and open it then with a controller.

i don't have this game so I'm not sure how the physics work. but couldn't you use those sloped blocks to guide the edges into the slots its suppose to go in to prevent that catching? you could also have something that hinges underneath the elevator once its up to push it in all the way and keep it in place. it might help to make the pistons go in stages and not all at once. maybe half or a third, wait till the first group is partially retracted then activate the rest, which will make it start slow, speed up, then slow to a stop, but there'll still be a large period where all of them are going so it'll still be quick. tho its impractical for such a long distance. a scissor lift using horizontal pistons might be able to take a lot more load. might be worth experimenting with

If you multiplie the number of pillar of pistons who are use for the elevator the force use by each pillars will be divided so the probleme with the elevator is lower than the floor will be done

Wouldn't it be working just fine if you gave the spot where all the pistons contracts into some breathing room? Since the pistons got stuck along the bottom section of the wall right next to where most of the pistons went most likely due to slight uneven weight distribution on the elevator platform itself. By having maybe 2 blocks of wiggle space that should make it able to lift most things even if they are not exactly in the middle of it.

What I say? Make a tunnel up. Give the bottom of the elevator ROCKETS. Make a frame at the top to hold it from slamming into the ceiling. And ROCKET ELEVATOR COMPLETE.

Or you can reverse you elevator making it push you up then pulling you up. Which means you build the elevator at the bottom of the base
