Pit Boss 1600 Elite PSE Pre-Heat/Smoke Mode

According to the manual you are suppose to Pre-Heat to 350 before going to lower temperatures. So today I wanted to try it out. Also wanted to try out the VST Smoke Mode.

I'm a little foggy too on the smoke p setting. I'm assuming the VST technology keeps it at the temp you set it at while supposedly still smoking. I timed the seconds for what the auger was suppose to be in according to what they say and it didn't match up. So I assume it alters the seconds it runs to maintain the temp you set it at. That being said what the heck would make it any different than keeping it in PID mode. Seems like it's the exact same thing. In my opinion there should be no petting to put in. It simply should just be a smoke mode. If you ever get any more clarity would like to know the feed back on it

The temperature on mine doesn’t stay at the set temperature. It keeps rising. I just got this and the bag of pellets today and it’s not doing what it’s supposed to.

When you’re setting the temp I find it a lot easier to dial your temp and then touch the screen to set instead of trying to push the knob.

I have the 1150 Pro Series and I haven't seen a smoke setting in the menu. Maybe I'm missing something.

Don't think the 1150 has it.

P setting I did 190 degrees and pit setting 2 or 1 so I could keep the temp around 190

As soon as I put p setting at 5 or 6 I couldn’t keep temp high and it stayed around 130 degrees
