I would try replacing the igniter first. If that doesn’t work unfortunately it’s probably a controller issue.

Just got the Tailgater brand new, same issue. I have a 700fb that does not trip the same outlet so Pit boss is sending me a new igniter but on back order of course. Found on on Amazon for $13 and will have it tomorrow. I’ll use the one they send me for my 700fb when I need it. Since it is a brand new grill their sending me a cover for it free of charge! Great grills and Awesome customer service! Great video, thank you!

OK I got the 1000 pit boss do alot of BBQ ,ignitor was not doing it's thing called in and was pretty much told I was the pit boss technician, didn't like that but sent me a new one . After several broke bolts and drilling them out I went back with high temp screws and high temperature anti seize.The ignitor is supposed to be about a 1/4 inch into the pot is what I was told by pit boss.

Fantastic video. Very informative and was able to knock out the replacement of my igniter in no time on my Pit Boss Classic. Pit Boss Customer Service is Excellent and they sent out a replacement part for free.

Same here. Fired mine up today and it ran for 30 min before kicking the gfi. Unplugged the ignitor and it ran fine.

Mine is not lighting up the pellets are coming out so i know the auger is working. im pretty sure i hear the fan so its most likely the igniter right? also im not blowing fuses are tripping a breaker.

It is more than likely the igniter.. if you empty the pellets you can run through the startup and check to see if you feel heat coming from the burn pot.. you will probably even be able to see the igniter glow..

I tied a string to the split in the wires at the igniter end of the old one and pulled it through over to the pellet hopper side. I then cut the line, tied it to the igniter end on the new one and fed it back through. Also WEAR GLOVES when handling the new igniter. Oil from your hands can greatly reduce the life of the igniter.

I have mine about 3/4”. And it’s been working fine. I just tried to replicate how far it was sticking out from the factory.

Just picked up a Austin XL yesterday and noticed no ignitor rod sticking out into the fire box at all. So after watching this video and reading the trouble shooting section in the manual, I pulled the fire box to find the igniter rod just laying there. Had to drop the bottom plate off the hopper and cut the zip ties to allow enough wire to feed the rod into the tube and set the set screw. According to the manual, the rod should protrude 1/2" into the fire box. This video gave me the insight and confidence needed to easily fix my issue. THANK YOU!

Igniter should be 13mm. or 0.5 inches into the firepot.

I just got one of these because it didn’t work. My question is, does the induction fan run as soon as it comes on or only after it gets to temperature?

Your fan should come on immediately when the smoker comes on and only goes off after a few minutes delay after you shut it off.
