I had my mind up to buy the Blackstone 3 burner at Walmart. The day I went to make my purchase they had the 3 burner Pitt Boss Sierra ceramic. Both under $400. After some back and forth comparison I decided on the Pitt Boss. I liked the location of the grease cup better. The build quality seemed more solid especially the lid. The lid on the Blackstone was a poor sloppy fit and seemed tinny. Seeing the clean up chore friends have with their Blackstone and problem with rust, the ceramic was the final decider. Been a few months and couldn't be happier. Probably use it 3 or 4 times a week. Breakfast, burgers, shrimp and fajitas. I can do a meal in half the time as with kitchen cooktop and heat and smells are outside. Clean up with water on a hot surface is quick. Surface still looks new. I only use silicone spatulas, wooden scrapers and paper towels to wipe down. Warranty on the griddle is 2 years. Those that have replaced theirs under warranty that I've seen in reviews have had no problem doing so but everyone admitted to using metal tools on the surface. I guess PB didn't require silicone originally. They do now

The Pit Boss featured here is currently $673.92 in comparison to the Blackstone at $297.00 at Walmart. That's a huge price difference unfortunately. The question is basically do people want to buy a giant non-stick pan or a giant cast iron pan? They seem very different.

We've used this griddler for a variety of items including steak, fish, vegetables kzbin.infoUgkxMcXT6_MuT0hB3ejyGQQHaeof9bwoWPUf and mushrooms and it's been great! Gets that great smokey flavor when using high heat or sear. The grill works amazingly simple and very low smoke for what it is. Heat gets up fairly quick, especially on closed position. The griddler side is fairly simple, better for eggs and pancakes rather than any cooking. Use the flat plates with the grill side if needed.Cleanup is easy and having heat on both sides is great for cooking a large amount or panini press.This definitely gets hot though so be careful with the sides.

I have used both and ultimately bought the Blackstone. The temperatures across the Blackstone is just more consistent and holds heat better - also the surface will last a lifetime without the need to worry about using certain tools. It may just be me but the food tasted better on the Blackstone. Maybe because of a seasoned surface?
@Equinox051256 Жыл бұрын
I own a Pit Boss Vertical Smoker and love it but I prefer the "cast iron" seasoned griddle top of the Blackstone. Once it's seasoned correctly, it's essentially a non-stick surface as well. I've love cast iron skillets and have never had an issue with anything sticking to them if seasoned properly and maintained. But as they say, to each his/her own. 🍔

i clean my blackstone when it's real HOT. Scrape the leftovers off then squart water on it. The water then boils and steams all the remaining bits from the surface, Do that a few times then wipe with paper towels. Let cool and apply thin coat of oil.

Pw 18:40 I think it was a great review. I will say the PB is very nice but 3 times the price I struggle a bit, that being said I will probably get it. I was looking at the BS adventure series but if this is more portable than my 36 in BS than it may be a winner. Portable griddle, pizza oven, and charcoal grill, and I’m in business

For me the question will always be about the ceramic durability over multiple years. I like that can completely refinish my Blackstone griddle surface if I need to. But if the ceramic is truly able to last for years, it's obviously way easier to clean.

I agree, I’ll have to update on the ceramic in a few years and see how it’s holding up!

Pink Walrus! I am convinced now that I need a Blackstone with a ceramic cook surface. So, I'll wait patiently until this option becomes available. Based on the very well executed bread test the Pit Boss has more temperature fluctuations on its surface rendering about half the surface a warming location. Great Video!!

They're E-Series electric has the ceramic top, so I have the best of both worlds with my 36 inch steel Blackstone and 22 in ceramic for camping. The 22 has two zones and they have a 17-in E-Series, but I'm sure you probably figured that out since it's videos a little bit older. Good luck, have fun cooking.

Pink walrus, and a very informative video. I love to cook and have everything from ceramic coated to cast iron and love it all. The downside to ceramic coated is once that starts to chip there is no saving it, but with the Blackstone depending on how bad the rust is you can clean it and save the Grill. I'm not a big fan of where the PB has the grease trap, yeah I'm sure it makes getting the grease in there easier but the amount of cook space that you lose because of that big hole even though it's not extremely large it's still crucial in my opinion. So I think the black stone has the better grease trap, both have their pros and cons as with anything. But in my opinion the size of the cooktop and the price are just two reasons alone on why I would go with the Blackstone

I'll go with the blackstone if you ever scratch the pit boss by accident then your screwed. Let's say your kid uses a steel wool on the pit boss, well there goes your non stick surface and you have to buy a whole new griddle top if they sell them separately. If you use steel wool on the black stone no problem just re season the cooking surface.
@bbqbymazie2 жыл бұрын
That’s definitely something to think about! I think it would still take quite a bit of a beating in order to scratch it but I’m definitely more mindful!!

I don’t know why people make a big deal about ceramic vs cast iron when both set of griddles can be replaced (not the grill, but griddle only). I think any griddle will give out anyways. Ceramic wears out, and cast iron gets rusty and worn out so either way I feel it’s a draw: just my opinion
