Question. If you previously fired the pots, then why fire them for a second time in the pit?

Hello! The first firing gives the pots just enough strength to be able to take the thermal shocks felt during the pit firing. At the same time, the first firing temp is little lower than usual so the clay’s pores are open enough for the effects to show up. Apologies for the delayed response. Hope this helps :)
