Welcome to my latest video where I take you on a winter adventure and share my experience pitching an Ultamid 4p pyramid tent in a blizzard. In this video, I will demonstrate the techniques I use to set up the tent safely and effectively in harsh winter conditions, including the use of snow skirts to improve use in winter environments as well as snow drift protection.
I explore every step of the process, from preparation and choosing a suitable site to properly securing the tent and creating a safe and comfortable base camp. By sharing my own experiences and best practices, I hope to provide you with valuable insights and tips to help you succeed in your own winter camping adventures. However, I have far more experience with tunnel tents in winter conditions, both Helsport fjellheimen x-trem 3 camp and Hilleberg nammatj 3 gt which are very good tents for winter adventures. But also smaller one-way tents such as the Black Diamond First Light 2P. It is also on the channel if anyone is curious. All collected in a new playlist called Tents, reviews and techniques.

Nice work, how do you find tipi shelters in strong wind?

This is with a center pole. It is very difficult to pitch when it is windy. Once it's up and if you've got a really good pitch, it's quiet, you don't hear the wind that much. But there will be huge strains on both the center pole and the ground pegs. I feel much safer in a tunnel tent, the disadvantage there is if the wind turns to a different direction. But next year I will go back to the tunnel tent just because it feels much safer.
