There's no specific and open mention of weed until Sweet Leaf, like you said. But there's enough mention of drugs to make us think of weed. I can't listen to The Wizard without thinking it's about a drug dealer "spreading his magic". Same with Behind the Wall of Sleep - always sounded to me like it's about a bad trip: "Deadly petals with strange power". KISS has an entire Metal album and they played Hard Rock in the 70's which is why they got the Metal tag they didn't get to the pop style until "Dynasty" and nice choice for Slayer Angel Of Death is great
