Thank you! I love Cat because she is not a physical phenom-she is the height and size of the girls we teach, and therefore teaches with a little more common sense. Only a top spin can make a ball drop. It's called the Magnus Effect-physics. Rollover drops don't drop they move to the side. If a sideways spin made a ball drop then a screwball would also drop, but it goes sideways. A right-handed screwball and a left-handed rollover drop have the same spin. Yet we tell the right-hander the ball moves in towards the batter, and we tell the left-hander the ball drops. Huh? The rollover drop torques the elbow away from the body. (see Jennie Finch kzbin.info/www/bejne/gKS5aYavZtpgj68) (see Cat Osterman-kzbin.info/www/bejne/j5emk6Chgplqp8k) Film your pitcher from the front and watch it back in slow motion, and you'll see. We would never teach boys to torque their arms like that. Stick with the peel drop.

i'll bring the drop to my 11 and 12yr olds practices, to help enforce with the simple 4 seam fastball grip and getting max spin. and wont worry about the curve lol right on! thanks for sharing.

it doesnt have to. i am a pitcher and a catcher. those positions you hae to know about pitching rules and i dont drag my foot completely. i lift it up a little bit before i release
@emerymills23767 жыл бұрын
brittany roth you should keep it on the ground. Do you take pitching lessons
@ethntrrs5 жыл бұрын
Emery Mills 2023 Grad Softball 05 they play by international rules. your back foot doesn’t have to stay on the ground i’m pretty sure
@IceCream-ey2kg3 жыл бұрын
That's fine. I think she means that keeping your foot down will help balance out your weight, making it easier to achieve spin

Crow hop ball one. The back foot must drag...

Literally I just started trying to pitch today and I can do a riseball.
@beefythanos55586 жыл бұрын
BerrySoda Yeah, I wouldn’t recommend learning that pitch first. Learn the fastball first.
@ginafurrey63803 жыл бұрын
You have a fastball going up. Not a riseball. Riseball takes years to master.

Illegal pitch, her back foot doesn't completely drag against the ground.

I would rather listen to the Olympian on how to pitch. Just my illegal opinion!
