I love how you went into depth about your feelings at the time before you gained experience. It's a terrifying process and it's a scary thought to be rejected! I love when photographers explain the process, ups and downs! This is why I love your channel - so open and honest :)

Dear Kayleigh and Olivia! My question would be more on the model side. Olivia you say that you get sent clothes and products to photograph, you send the photos back to the 'clients' and you get paid for them. But how much do you pay the models you use? Do you pay a one off fee or do you pay a percentage based on how much you get from the client? If you use an agency model, do you sign some kind of a contract with the agency regarding what you can use the model and images for and where? Or you and your client have all the rights after you paid the agency fees? If it is not an agency model, do you sign a model release stating what the images will be used for or you keep it totally open? Thank you so much in advance for your answers! Best regards, Sylvie

Hi Sylvie! In my personal experience and in this situation I've found it's better for the client to choose the model they want and to contact the agency/model directly. This may not always be the case, but it does save you time as the photographer from going in too deep with extra invoicing/contractual agreements. As I said sometimes there may be some occasions where that doesn't happen and I will contact the model's agency directly for more details on rates/etc to relay to the client. I would then get the model agency to issue an invoice for the client separately to my own. 🙂

Ufff, I can feel your struggle🙈🙈 fashion photography can be really embarrassing when you are looking for clients. I think if you just want to make money in a more relaxed way you should go for wedding photo:)

This is great, but how is this in the Covid environment. Most Modelling agencies are not even in their offices, and so connecting with them is more difficult.
