❤Thumbs up👍, for real. This is the most Monk style's guitarist I've ever seen, and heard playing. He reminds him, and his way to 'see' the music, as no else, at least to me. And I might add that I do LOVE Monk, and especially this track: I've seen plenty of version of it, by many musicians. Well... up to now, after Monk's original one, this is the one I prefer. I ❤Love that final. Thumbs up, again.👍 Just subscribed to this channel.

The elders are looking down on this and smiling. On par with the classic version Wes did on Jazz 625. KZbin suggested, after watching this, the version on here with George Benson and McCoy, and have to say, it doesn't hold water compared with Peter, Dan and Billy's interpretation, IMHO. This is so true to the spirit of the tune and Monk. Thank you to whomever did the great camera work on this. What is very noticeable is Peter's horizontal playing and economy of motion using only three fingers when playing single lines. His legato phrasing seems to be a very direct extension of the way he approaches the fretboard. Example, try and take any one part of a long line here and use his exact fingerings to internalize the concept. It's very reminiscent of the way Wes played.

LHG You bring a very interesting and accurate analyse of this challenging interpretation of R.A M . very close to the original pianistic creation . As an elder I share the smile and look you talk about and I remember the JAZZ.HOT revue N° 283 MAY 1972 ( Every thing on guitar and Jazz guitarists ) with Antoine DESSEN's analyse of 4 GUITARISTIC interpretations of R.A.M . ( Barney KESSEL , Jimmy RANEY , Grant GREEN and Wes MONTGOMERY ) . You guess he concluded with " WES 'presents beyond guitar an architectural construction offering GENIUS and MUSIC ."

@@jean-lucbersou758 ah, very cool! I would love to read what was written. Big fan of Jimmy Raney’s, Grant and Barney. Do you still have the issue?
@jean-lucbersou7583 жыл бұрын
@@lgoler I still have the revue . When you look for it you can find some info but it's not still available ( only second hand ex e-bay °). There are 6 pages about " some chorus " in the revue ( .95 pages ) . This - pages are mainly hand writing transcriptions about the 4 interpretations of R.A.M. with a brief comparison comment and Django Reinhardt " Minor Swing " and Charlie Christian " from Swing to Bop " . I can copy and send you these 6 pages if you wish and don't find the revue . Coming back to R.A.M. i think Pasquale GRASSO brings another ice on the cake .

@@lgoler it's my pleasure to send you those pages ( A4 size ) . You must notice that besides the hand writing transcriptions the synthetic analyse comment is written in French . I don't caret the ( yellow ? ) submarines and i can try to add some translation if you wish . Let me know for an accurate mail adress . Friendly .
