Pitkin Campground - Gunnison National Forest

Pitkin Campground is located along Quartz Creek in the Gunnison National Forest about 1/2 mile east of Pitkin Colorado. 23 Campsites are available first come, first served. There are hundreds of miles of jeep & ATV trails nearby. From the trails, you can reach Taylor Park, Tincup, St Elmo, Hancock Pass, Tomichi Pass, Cumberland Pass, Mt Antero, the Alpine Tunnel, and much more.

Camped here this past weekend. It was a very nice campground and when all the others were full and crowded this one still had open spots. It is a little pricey at 20 bucks a night, and they had no firewood available so plan on locating some of that on your own. Bathrooms were cleaned daily and the camp host was great. We did not have any AT&T cell service. Would recommend to anyone that wants to stay in a developed campground with bathrooms. Lots of trees and a stream runs through it. Road was in great shape and quiet towards the late evening.

It's a great campground. I plan on recording a better video next time we are in Pitkin.

These are some monster sites. Did they have any for tents? Planning on bike packing up to this place in early October.

I’m pretty sure the campground is closed by the middle of September as temps are getting below freezing at night then

There are no hook ups in the Pitkin area.
