Everyone was embarrassed for Hinata sneaking into the training camp but the ball boy arc is such a small, yet important arc, it really was the turning point for Hinata to grow as a character and I’m so proud of him. 😭😭
@stevennelsonsegura55833 жыл бұрын
True. And I think that is the case most of the time in life too. A lot of us are too embarrassed to try something that is not a crime and that will not harm anyone because ot is not something that people usually do. Most of the time, people who try these options create that new path pr learn something great. Ofcourse there are times when it does not work out, but the shame of being denied of something (as long as it is not really harmful) never done before is much better than missing a possible chance at getting better at something you care and love.

Fun fact: In the manga, when Osamu talks about Hinata, he talks about how it’s like specifically eating rice. Rice is a staple of every meal in Japanese culture including breakfast and yet you don’t get tired of it ever. Just like playing vball for players who play everyday. It’s a tiny change that I don’t mind. Just thought it was a cool touch

I dont remember if I read this part raw back when I did, so I cant be sure either way... but it's worth mentioning that in Japanese the generic word for food, 'gohan', can also be used for rice.

@skyefox3 жыл бұрын
22:20 it's not just failure the banner refers to, its also success. If you feel you've done enough, that you've reached the top, you get complacence and stop growing. It doesn't matter if you were ranked 2nd or 3rd last year, or even the best team last year. You have to concentrate on now, because that ranking no longer matters.

To be honest, I've been a rock climber for years and I even worked at a climbing gym but I learned the word pitons from Haikyuu. I didn't climb much outside, but still, it's no wonder so many people watching never knew what it meant before!
@MH-ub6od3 жыл бұрын
AHHH!!! Pitons is an amazing episode, and it includes so much in 20 minutes that I'm literally in awe now that I've watched it with you again. It's so cool, what Haikyuu does with the schools' banners and their philosophies. The fact that the school mottos completely encompass the teams' style of playing always gives me goosebumps, especially so for Inarizaki since their motto is probably the most in-depthly explained one in the whole anime. The twin's quick and then Osamu setting the set that he got to Aran had my mouth hanging open the first time I watched it. AND THEN HINATA- This little sunshine boy managed to see that and received it so cleanly!!! That was definitely a highlight moment of this season, and saying that this is Hinata's season is very much accurate. TIME FOR THE MC TO SHINE AGAIN! I felt the same way about that one point that they lost after that terribly long rally, and my face fell so fast I think my cheeks sunk LOL The fact that Hinata being himself can literally bring the team back from the brink of despair says a lot about his personality. He's the literal sun I swear. As Osamu said, Hinata loves volleyball so much that even though he has every right to feel down about their disadvantageous situation, he only focuses on all the cool things that he managed to do before they lost that point. He's so hungry for the game, and because his spirit and love for the game is so strong, he hardly ever becomes less hungry for it. The twins are such a great inclusion to the story, especially when Osamu started going on about the food analogy when they were describing how Hinata plays volleyball. Kags refusing to admit that he thought Hinata's receive was good always gets me. That face he makes is 100% worthy of being in the Haikyuu derp faces list. Suga's face in Season 1 Episode 2 is still my favourite derp face so far HAHAHAH Thank you so much for this enjoyable video, I can't wait for next week's reactions!!!

Ball boy arc may be short, but it shows how hungry hinata is about improving himself, how much he improves. Reminder, he able to learn how to read his opponents movements and how to correctly position himself when receiving the ball in 5 freaking days! He's very observant, he's asking around, he even helped someone (hyakuzawa). It may be embarrassing at first (about him sneaking) but his reason moved me, you can see in his eyes how much he wants to be in the camp just to see the other players play. He can simply give up and go back but he didn't, that's how determined he was. Even though he's hungry, had to go home everyday even though his house is far, he still continued and dedicate his all. Although it's still a reckless decision of him to sneak in without informing his team as well as the responsible for the training camp. But someone like him, who started to zero, and continuesly growing, you'll understand how much he needed it. I mean, unlike other players who had the chance to play with real teams and got proper training, he didn't get a chance to experience that in his middle school days, even when he's still a kid. He just started playing when he saw little giant. All I can say is, I'm very proud of Hinata. He proves that he's worth it. Best boy!!

This is something that has always being settled in Haikyuu not only about hinata but kageyama as well...tho let's take hinata as the biggest example, and it is that ..Hinata LOVES volleyball FROM THE DEEPEST BOTTOM OF HIS HEART... phrases like Osamu's "he plays volleyball like I eat my food" ...are one of many statements that exist throughout the whole series including the manga, that just demonstrate how Hinata BREATHES volleyball ...I swear him and kageyama are gonna die and play volleyball even in heaven.

Not really that important but the coach with the glasses and black hair is Coach Anabara, he's Johzenji's coach (the yellow uniforms, party team from back in s2) he was invited by Washijo-sensei to the camp to oganize the 2-on-2 matches, bc it was mentioned that that's his preferred method for his team and I guess Washijo-sensei thought it would be good to try it.

In regards to prolonged rallies, in professional volleyball on TV, they like to call them "MEGA RALLIES". Another term is "MONSTER BLOCK" when it is a big time 1 spiker vs 1 blocker and the blocker gets the point. On another note, this is totally random but the Miya twins are speaking with a Kansai dialect. And Man it sure is fun to listen to. I don't quite understand all the technical aspects of the dialect but I know there is an emphasis on pitch and is often described as "fun, casual, and even flirty in the right context".

Edit: guys i got excited here and went on and on but I'd really really appreciate it if you read it, I'm sorry for using so many words haha 😅💕 Those messages from the banners of the schools are gonna come around way later in the story... hopefully they'll animate it till the end... and y'know i was seeing this and thinking how first reactors are so.... ignorant (not in a bad way, it's just the adjective for when you don't know about something) about the show...that they don't get to catch the magnitude of these moments for the whole story as a big picture...and I realized after watching Haikyuu so many times with different reactors, different opinions and after reading the manga that...there is always important things that you didn't notice the first time ...and at some point after watching so many times...you get to where I am now ... Which is a state of pure awe and admiration of the whole existence of this series ...bc after repeating, learning, catching new things and appreciating characters you didn't the first time you watched...it really sinks in ...how greatly done this story is ...not only bc of writing... it's just ...you get goosebumps every single time you watch it doesn't matter how many times that is...and is bc you get to really understand the big picture that is Haikyuu and they're characters ... specially the character development here is absolutely immaculate. There are many real messages here that make you cry just by how much they resonate in you ...anyway, i got excited and probably wrote a whole freaking testament ...sorry, it's just.... HAIKYUU will never get old for me and I hope it's the same for everyone else...it doesn't matter how many times I watch it's still as great as it was the first time...No, even better since now I really comprehend how important the moments and messages like these ones you saw here are in the whole series...hope you love Haikyuu as much as I did, i would tell you to check the manga but nah I want to see your genuine reaction for when the new seasons come out some day hehe 💛💛💛😭😆😁💕

I think the slang for the back and forth of the ball is called either a "volley" or a "rally." "Volley" means to go back or forth (think bullets being fired from opposing sides in battle), so I think this would've been the original term (and where the sport gets its name). "Rally" is a newer term, and I think it's the one mostly used today. This has to do with the current scoring system, which when introduced as the international standard over 20 years ago, was called "rally scoring," where every rally earns a point. Prior to rally scoring, volleyball relied on the side-out; a team could only score when they were serving. If the non-serving team attacked and the ball fell on the serving team's side, a side-out would occur and the service would go to the other team. Unlike rally scoring, however, the now serving team would not gain a point for that attack; they could only score a point should they successfully serve and volley until they got the point via the ball falling on the opposing side. (The side-out system of play was how I played volleyball until my senior year of high school when we switched to rally scoring.) [I hope this explanation isn't too long or confusing.] There's a reason that this is one of my favorite matches in Haikyuu!, and Hinata's dig hits me on two levels. First, as a former volleyball player who, let's be honest, struggled with receiving the first few years of my career, Hinata's moment is the "lightbulb moment," the moment where it all clicks. I had a similar moment, and it reminded me of how everything led up to that point. Second, Hinata's hunger, wonderfully illustrated by Osamu, makes Karasuno hungrier for that win and that fight. I read the manga last summer when I was at an impasse in my thesis; I had a writer's block for almost nine months. I won't credit Haikyuu! solely for lighting a fire under my ass, but it definitely helped give me perspective.
