As a big Letang fan, I was super happy to see him be signed again. I was indifferent on the Malkin signing. Let's hope that there is some magic left in the tank and all of the pieces just start clicking together as the season progresses.

I was glad that the core stayed but adding older players was confusing to me. Getting Kappy at that amount was also a bit much imo; if he doesn’t pick it up by the trade deadline, I would hope that he gets moved. And then adding cagguila and archibald? Uhhh that’s a move. Either way, can only hope that hextall is making some massive 5d chess move that’ll work out and give the core a chance to make a deep run

I had pretty prepared myself for his departure because it seemed inevitable. I think he had a lot to give but needed more time to develop. Pens brought in Petry to basically replace him. Idk a lot about Ty Smith tbh.

they need all three, glad they stayed alongside. Not inseparable, but they are all 67% better when together.

While I don't like Pittsburgh, I do feel for them. As a Red Wings fan, I've seen this play out and it is not fun. Hanging on to what used to be a good team for too long will lead to a long period of misery. I hope Pittsburgh will be able to recover faster than Detroit did.

Yes. I think Pittsburgh is walking that thin line atm. Wanting so badly to remain competitive for as long as possible but still sacrificing future sucess. Having Sidney Crosby though probably perpetuates this a lot because the Pens know talent of his caliber doesn't come around very often at all.

Malkin has been like those awesome Rollercoasters that never seem to run when you go to the amusement park. Amazing, but inconsistent. Although he did put up awesome PPG numbers. I'm glad he's still here. Let's hope he keeps the points coming and plays a lot of games. Awake the angry Russian bear! I like our roster for the most point. I just hope we can get some speed out of those old guys.

Petry was bad move, 3 more years, apparently the Penguins want to be the oldest team in league for next 3 years. If you want another old guy you can have Kyle Okposo from us, he’s only 35

Petry had 21 points in his last 30 games after the coaching change and can still skate very well despite his age. The legs are the most important thing. That was a win trade. He is still a really good defenseman.

It's been really crazy. Getting rid of a great young D man in Marino, only to replace him with a just as expensive young D man who's terrible. Glad we kept 58 and 71.
