Stephanie Metz's industrial felt 'Holdables' sculptures were featured as part of 'Pivot: the Art of Fashion,' a yearly showcase featuring designers' creations and artists' wearable art. In the face of pandemic restrictions the yearly live production pivoted to video, with fantastic results. In this video the artist discusses her touchable designs and the impact of COVID on her practice, while models interpret and interact with her unusual sculptures.

Hey Stephanie, you talk about using industrial felt. Can you elaborate exacly which wool is that?

Industrial felt is a nonwoven textile made from a blend of wool and recycled fibers of other types. I get mine from Sutherland Felt; they have an online storefront at thefeltcompany.com, and I've used their EcoFelt often. I don't know what kind of wool is actually involved! You order industrial felt by density and thickness. It's made for a wide variety of industrial uses, and varies in color since that's not a quality important to its intended use.
