Honestly it was partly Disney's fault Elemental bombed. Disney dumped Soul, Luca, and Turning Red on streaming. This taught Pixar audiences "Oh I can just wait for the new Pixar movie to come out on streaming." This is really bad, streaming makes less money than theatres usually do. 200 million dollar budgeted movies like Elemental are gonna have an extremely difficult time making that back on streaming, never mind the not-insignificant chunk piracy is gonna take out of that. Disney also choose to release Elemental two weeks after Spiderverse, a week after Transformers Rise of the Beasts, the same day as the flash and two weeks before the new Indiana Jones movie. This led to Elemental's already shrinking box office being cannibalized by the other films. It's not Disney's fault exclusively, the mediocre reviews of Elemental sure didn't help but Disney really set up for failure.

Which is really unfortunate, it's a sweet movie. Not mind-blowing, but it's not bad as everyone is making it out to be. They probably released it around this time because it lined up with father's day, and Ember's relationship with her dad is pretty big in the movie. That, and I believe the director made this movie as a tribute to his parents as well, who unfortunately passed during production.

A better story would've been nice... Like what if a couple with oppisite elements _didn't_ work out in the end, but the two just decide to be really good friends as a sign of peace?? HOW'S *THAT* FOR ORIGINALITY.

It’s also partly due to people not wanting to see it. Yeah it’s a sweet film and not bad in the slightest- but we’ve seen tons of those types of movies in the past and audiences wanted to see something different.

"Elemental" deserves much better for sure! For me it's an amazing and awesome movie! I have already watched if for 3 times and I still would be glad to repeat it. I strongly believe that "Elemental" will get enough money to be counted as a successful movie because this one is very good!

I promise it’s not lol, there’s a big subplot about immigration nd what to do about family expectations (also there’s rlly good character development). Overall gets a “solid but not world breaking” from me

@@Broomer52 Eh, not really. The marketing was _really_ bad at showing what the movie is actually about. Like you think you do, I did too, but I was pretty pleasantly surprised when I went to go see it in theaters. Not groundbreaking or anything, but it tells a pretty sweet storyline based on the creator's experience as a 2nd generation immigrant alongside the romance. Which was... Barely mentioned in the advertising of this movie if at all. Anyway, there's a reason this was released around father's day. Not forcing you to check it out if you don't want to, but just letting you know the trailers aren't reliable if you want to get a feel for this movie.

@@louise4152 it’s a race motivated story, girl struggles with the society around her in some fashion, tensions between the water and fire because subtlety is dead, this will somehow lead to a conflict with people from the other elements and by the time it’s over they recognize the error of their ways and everything is good like it barely happened. As the video says, "mediocre." It's not terrible, but it's plot has been entirely played out so many times. However, imo, the race allegory backfires by being elements. "Fire" and "water", by nature, hurt each other when they come in contact with each other -- should've been more thought-out beforehand with how terrible that implies about irl.

The movie Elemental wasn’t even bad. It’s actually very good. It was a cute, wholesome, emotional film that had some damn good messages. The only issue and reason why it didn’t do well in box office is because it was released the same month as Spiderverse and Transformers+ Gaurdians was still playing for a bit. Elemental is not bad, it just had bad timing.🔥💖💧 That remake on the other hand is nothing more but a damn nonsensical cash cow. 🧜🏾‍♀️💵🐮🐄
