Just hearing all those voices from the belief system makes it just so relatable, all those positive and negative beliefs colliding. Which gives us more anxiety to handle. Because we want to be our best self, but it can become more nerve wrecking to handle, because then we start doubting ourselves that we’re ’not good enough’. Seeing all 9 emotions hug the belief system just brings me to tears every time. Because they are not just hugging the system but ACTUALLY all hugging Riley herself, from the ‘inside out’, saying “It’s ok. We’re all here for you, Riley. You’re never alone. Everything is going to be ok. We all love you, no matter what.”

It’s like how it parallels to the first movie. Riley needed her parents to hug her to be alright, and then it was the Emotions that needed to hug Riley to make her alright.

Fun Fact, there were at least 25 consecutive meetings discussing on how to do the panic attack scene with Riley before getting it right in the final version.

I saw another commenter speak to this scene and I wanted to piggy back. To see Riley hit her head with the hockey stick and saying “get it together”.. was such a subtle way of portraying self harm and as someone who healed from that as a teen…. Just.. incredible film design.

The best sequel that Pixar has given us since the Toy Story movies. Luv tge new emotions and their VA's. My fav scene was when Sadness said to Joy, "Riley wants you," is a parallel to what the latter said to the former, "Riley needs you", in the first film.

I really like the final scene with Anxiety, that goes to show that just like Sadness in the first movie, we expect them to be those negative types of emotions we think we don't want nor need, but in reality are just as important. Anxiety is very important to think of our actions and how they could impact our future! It's necessary to keep a balance though, and focus and what we can do.

45:46 Such clever symbolism used here. From Riley feeling the sun shine on her, it meant that whenever in times of doubt and stress, there will always be a shining hope to help overcome it. In this case, her friends, her family, her emotions, and most importantly, believing in herself. When Riley finally knew that, instead of her emotions choosing to take over Riley, Riley actually chose to be happy, she was now controlling her own emotions and chose Joy to help her begin that shining hope. Working at a smooth, steady pace while at the same time, to keep moving forward, knowing she is never alone.

I swear, this is like the first movie in some ways. In the first movie, all Joy wanted for Riley was to be sure she was always positive and happy, no matter what, even through the darkest of times. But in the end, she finally understood what this was doing to Riley. For burying all that inner sorrow and doubt, it was destroying Riley from the ‘inside out’. She needed to embrace those emotions other than happiness. In the second movie, it was with beliefs, of what Riley thought of herself as. Only focusing on positive beliefs, because the emotions thought that that’s what made Riley feel accepted that way. Which again, was destroying her from the ‘inside out’. Because those negative beliefs are also what makes Riley Riley. It doesn’t mean that she’s a bad person. Everyone one of those beliefs makes her who she is as a human being. And other people accept those things about you, cause that’s what makes you you. Morals for both of those was so impactful and true. Never try to shadow your inner conflicts or negative beliefs with positivity. Because you won’t be hurting others if you don’t, you would hurting yourself the most. Hurting the real you that YOU are meant to be. Hiding the true definition of yourself. From the ‘inside out’. Always be true to yourself, and never try to bottles those conflicts up, embrace them and accept all your emotions and beliefs for what they can do to benefit your life.

To be fair to Joy, "Homework should be illegal…" was probably fueled by a bad memory and many of the bad memories sent to the back seemed to be ones that had joy mixed into them. Which is probably why Joy didn't catch on sooner. So her issue was more likely the cherry picking, rather than only throwing out the bad memories.

I literally cried when Riley was having Anxiety attack since I know how it feels and has experienced a really bad one before, at first I thought I'm alone and has to solve all of my problem by myself without telling anyone, but that just makes it worse, until, my father who notice my worry talk to me, he ask me to eat out just the two of us and have a talk (and fyi my relationship with my father isn't that good since I turn 13 or went through puberty, we just don't get along that well) but after we talk and he told me that I can share my thought/worry with him, and all of a sudden I feel relief and calmed a bit... after that I started to share my worry with my parents and ask for their thoughts for how to solve my problem, both of them with an open arm guide me and told me what I needed to do and to take A lot of rest, thankfully it work! It needed some time but it was worth it... I definitely learn my lesson, we shouldn't worry about something until we're out of control, it will just hurt you, we have to keep ourselves, think carefully of what we needed to do, and just chill a bit...

26:00 There are no happy memories being generated because Riley isn't happy at that moment. He's not enjoying what she's doing; she's doing it because she's afraid of the consequences of not doing it (or doing it wrong). Some of those memories could turn yellow later, when looking back at that time, just like those memories turning blue in the first movie. I wonder if the next movie will expand on the difference between what emotions were felt when a memory was formed vs. those felt when a memory is remembered. Embarrassment and Nostalgia are really good at reevaluating memories...
