I'm very happy with my Pixel 6a which I got for $150 with trade-in and it came with the Pixel Buds A Series. I never cared for wireless charging or higher refresh rate. I am however curious about the modem in the 7a. Would like to see a comparison in speed tests for 5G, 4G LTE and Wi-Fi between the 6a and 7a.

Great job on the vid, really enjoyed the tea break moment. This phone seems like an overall winner. Does everything someone like me would need above average, while maintaining a mostly complete Pixel flagship experience. A very interesting alternative to the regular Pixel 7.

I nabbed the Google Store only color Coral yesterday...it's gorgeous! I also took advantage of the free Pixel Buds and the free "Limited Edition" (yea, sure 😂) case. Adding in the $50 discount that was being given out over on the Canadian YT channels during their live casts and this was a pretty sweet deal overall. Using it, I love it. I'm coming from a Pixel 6 standard and I'm finding none of the issues that plague that phone here, from an actual working fingerprint sensor(and, thank God, a face unlock feature at last!!) to actually being able to use a glass screen protector (see the fingerprint sensor issue as to why you couldn't use one). I like the speed, features, looks...basically everything. I'm not seeing a single reason to have regreted my purchase, none. Great initial impression Joshua, I look forward to the full review!

I've been very happy with my Pixel 7a. Overheating was an issue for me but it seems Android 14 improved on that. Update as of November 2024, I'm still rocking my Pixel 7a for the foreseeable future for one reason: I noticed with Android 14 on Pixel 7A, the colors felt washed out in comparison to a Pixel 7A with Android 13 where the display felt vibrant. Not sure what's going on there. But I'm going to stick with your motto Josh 🙌 what we have is maybe all we need. I will plan on using the phone for as long as possible ❤.

Great Day One review. Topic for tea break: Over the last 1.9 months I became disabled. Gone were the great salary, insurance, and multiple device purchases yearly. I had to become content with all the devices I'd purchased up until my disability became severe. I was asked to be featured in a documentary about one of my illnesses, but also asked to shoot my own B-roll. I ended up shooting all those shots on my old but trusty Galaxy Note 10+. The shots came out amazing. I actually have other devices, including a non Sim iPhone, but I felt most comfortable using the 4 year old note, using galaxy watch 4 as remote viewer. I had what I needed already 😁

As soon as you asked the question I immediately remembered my phone. Which is a Galaxy Note 10 Lite, a phone from 3 years ago, with I chipset from 5 years ago. It shows its age and I've been wanting to upgrade it, but I have to wonder why? It definitely serves all purposes, so i have no need at all to upgrade. Happy to be happy with what I have. Thanks for the tea time, the reason why I keep coming here (that and the fact that I've known and loved your videos from the android authority days)

Thanks for the review. I understand the pixel 7a front facing camera is fixed focus, so I'm wondering why footage at 6:38 (walking) is much more bluerrier on the face, than the footage at 6:42 (in the car). The tell-tale for me is the sharpens of the facial hair.

I also have the 7 Pro, and I must say that it's only missing the telephoto lens. And I really like the smaller form factor better from the 7a!! On paper, the size between the base 7 and 7a seems negligible. I think I'll go with the regular 7. Was hoping it'd be at least as small physically as the 6a.

I think the comparison with the Galaxy A54 is the most interesting match up. I've always viewed the Galaxy A5x series as a sort of "all-rounder sweet spot". You get decent cameras, decent (albeit somewhat underwhelming) performance, good build, good software support, etc. Comparing that to the 7A which feels like a similar device in nature seems sensible. I love my new 6A that I just bought through my carrier for $199..... Premium feel doesn't matter, 98% of people use cases so you don't actually feel the phone.

I think $500 is the most we should spend on a phone and it should have everything you need. Heck I got the 6a as an open box for $189

I don't care about this. Give us your opinion on the Pixel Fold, Josh 🇵🇭 ! 😂 At first, I wanted the white (porcelain) color of the Pixel Fold. Get the one Michael Fisher is getting. But now I'm preferring the black (or obsidian) one. I know it looks boring but I prefer the matte back finish. And when it's unfolded, it looks better. If it's white, it looks odd when opened up contrasting to the black front. My iPhone 7, Pixel 3, and Z Flip 3 are matte black. It's a little boring but it never fails as black matches well with any other colored case. Considering I'm getting a case for it which is usually dark, getting it in either color wouldn't matter. But I'm digging that obsidian more. I'm not getting that clear case any more. The obsidian is more uniformed to the black front when opened. I was ok with the silver iPhone X and white backs. But for a book-style foldable, it just doesn't look right when opened and the colors are so contrasting. The Pixel Fold is basically the Surface Duo 3 if Microsoft went foldable.

When Google makes the 8a with all the rumors of how amazing the G3 processor is going to be. Why would anyone want to buy any other phone? If you can get a $500 phone with a flagship camera and a flagship processor?

This is going to raise the standard for mid range phones. Yes it's fifty more than the 6a. That said, what we get with this is a understandable increase (90hrz screen, qi charging). Where this is going to go against is the iPhone se and then the next one that's coming out later this year (which if true will be similar to the 13 in design). Finally what is this going to be priced at come Black Friday? With a good discount i can see them flying off the shelves this holiday season. In all this looks like a winner.

I've always been a huge fan of google, but I feel like their own software has become so confusing...they used to push Drive which has been replaced by Files, Duo has become Meet and a plethora of other apps have been replaced or scrapped altogether, they randomly linked all volumes together, just to separate them in the future...it feels like I'm beta testing their ideas and yet still paying high prices for hardware that depreciates much faster than Apple devices...I think I'm done. Don't get me started on the atrocious battery life of the Pixel watch, it can't even last until 8pm on active days, forget about any sleep tracking features, that pos has to charge... I'm about to jump ship when Apple switches to USB C. Maybe when google can figure out what they're doing I'll come back, but highly doubtful...

Spent an entire year saying , "maybe the next update will fix it" . Only to have more issues instead of software updates fixing things it made things worse. Wifi issues , cell data issues. Overheating issues , screen flickers. Nope. Google dropped the ball.

Great review as always, I like your content because there is a positive vibe and I find out erverything what I like to know. The Pixel 7a seems like a very solid phone. Good cameras, nice software features from Google and good price. The only downside by the all Pixel 7 series is the storage, I would like too see a 512 GB version and the 256 is little bit hard to find in my country. Greetings from Croatia ✌

Coming from an iphone 13 pro max, battery definitely isn't the best; but in moderate use it's quite fine. The heating of the device is definitely an issue worsened by the bad texas weather. If I'm in doors apps like snapchat and messenger can be a bit battery heavy. But as soon as i step inside somehere cooler the phone cools back down quickly. Apart from that its an amazing device.

My battery is great on my pixel 7. I'm getting 6-7 hours of screen on time. Last me all day.. I'm on my phone all day. I don't game tho. So maybe I would get worse battery life if I did.
