This is the Google Pixel 8 Pro after 72 hours of use. My first impressions with the Google Pixel 8 Pro have been FANTASTIC. Though, I will be uploading a full review going over everything I can possibly think of. At the moment though, I have switched to the Pixel 8 Pro because for me, it's the PERFECT phone.

I absolutely agree. I came from Samsung S21pro and 22pro I am blown away. Yes spec wise it's just not quite there yet but bring it to the real world it's amazing. Everything you said I completely agree.

I'm not familiar with your channel, but you feel like a real guy giving an honest review. I sorta hate when people compare an Android phone to an iPhone because I don't think most people are going to drop their Apple for Android. Anyway, this was a really nice review. It was fun hearing you geek out with surprise about a phone with middling specs impressing you. And, you know it's just going to get better with time! That never happened to me with my Samsung phones.

Middling specs? I mean I recognize the chipset is basically akin to a flagship chipset in terms of peak power with maybe the 8g1... Or the a14. But does that really qualify as middling? A flagship chipset from 18 months ago?! Otherwise it has QHD screen, 12 GB of RAM (no Samsung phone under $1,000 offers those specs and no iPhone offers those specs at all), 5x telefoto and 7 years of updates? To get class leading computational photography.... that has dominated MHKBD's blind test, easily defeating Samsung and Apple's best flagships with their $350 option? I mean that's right, the Pixel 6a and Pixel 7 pro were number 1, 2 his blind test using ELO ratings from last December which had over 600,000 people and over 20 million individual votes. Samsung finishing 5th place, iPhone finished in 7th. Again there are flaws with the pixel, it has pretty weak Samsung modem, It's not great at pushing optimal framerates for games that require it (but really how many high-end mobile games are there anyways like besides the genshin impact.... I wouldn't know because I don't play mobile games but s*** it can't be many).

No. I think the Pixel is smoother. Maybe it’s placebo, because the animations are quicker, but the phone feels much snappier. Regardless though, animations don’t make or break a phone.

Really no complaints from me on my 8pro. Coming from the 7pro, it works as expected. Loving the new screen brightness! Fingerprint scanner is hit or miss sometimes but other than that, I'm happy with it. Got the pixel watch 2 for free with my preorder and Surprisingly it seems to work pretty good! Better than my galaxy 5. They just need to make a bigger version

I have YT Music because of KZbin Premium, Spotify I'm the 5th person in my cousins family plan, and Apple Music is because my dad has Apple One / family plan. I mostly use Spotify. But I've been leaning toward YT Music recently. Not much of a fan of Apple Music. If I was to personally pay for any of them, I'd just go with YT because I already pay for Premium.

I've just got this phone and it's my first Pixel phone. I didn't really go for it because of the hype about AI or anything, I'd kind of decided to get a pixel 7 pro a little before the 8 was due out but never got around to it and then the 8 was close so I waited. I don't change phones very often and I'm really liking it, I think the screen is very good and the camera seems good too and I've played about with the AI camera stuff but I'm not planning on using it too much. I don't really play games much, especially not the more demanding ones but I think if game performance was my main concern I'd go for something like the Asus ROG phones. I think people get too caught up on things like benchmarks and forget that it's the actual real life day to day usage that counts. The tensor chips have never been top end performance but I honestly can't argue with my experience of the phone.

It is not the Pixel's poor benchmark test showing that is the issue with other reviewers. It is the fact that Google will NOT allow any of it's Pixel 8 owners to download benchmark apps like Geekbench and 3D Mark from the Play Store. And we all know why. Why do this and only emphasize it's midrange device level in some performance tests?.

"amFilm 3+1 pack" on Amazon, $10 CAD. Pretty good deal. There's another I used in a clip or two from Spigen, it's the one with the bezels but I wouldn't recommend it as it cuts off the display area.

I know there isn't much of an alternative on KZbin where timeliness and the algorithm is everything but it seems rough to try to make conclusions about a phone based on a few days.... Especially when things like adaptive charging take a few days to even stabilize. But I get it... If you wait two weeks, a month, the algorithm has no interest in the story anymore But I like pixels. I don't need to be sold on them anyways. I used a pixel 4a for years, and well I miss the headphone jack, and understand frustration with the Samsung modem and chipset, I love the newer pixels as well. I mean the s22 with the 8g1 The worst thermal issues than any of the pixel phones with tensor. And it cost $300-400 more MSRP at launch

Sadly, this is true. Apple and Samsung have been slowing down for the past few years now. My main issue with the iPhone is iOS. If Apple wants to call their top of the line iPhone “Pro”, they need to catch on the software to take advantage of the hardware. Also, some of Apple’s business practices have rubbed me the wrong way. As for Samsung, the Galaxy S series as of late has been quite disappointing. I want to be clear that the software is not the issue. One UI is actually my favorite implementation of Android and the features it offers are unmatched. My biggest gripe with Samsung’s flagships is the value proposition. Since they have removed features such as the headphone jack and microSD card slot, it makes it harder for me to the value despite One UI and S-Pen.

I got mine a couple of days ago and I still can't figure out if I keep it or not. Many features are US only for now - I'm in EU. And even if pictures are detailed, I think my regular S23 takes better photos right away - I needed to retouched every shots I took with the Pixel. I don't know if it is because I take mostly pictures of objects, but even on some landscape or random pictures, the S23 seem more detailed. But I have to say the Pixel captures more light with more possibilities of treatment post capture. Overall, I was expecting much better - maybe I got bamboozled by all the hype around the phone 😂. I took a Pro primarily to have a bigger screen but it's too big too for me on day to day usages, so it does not help. Maybe I should try a bit longer. I feel like a 6.4 would have been great. Thanks for you point of view anyway !

The S23 has a fantastic camera, it's sharper because of its processing though. I wouldn't say it's better but then again, it's subjective. It's def a phone that is a tough sell, but if you like it, you'll love it.

Yeah Samsung, Apple and Google all process their pictures differently so yeah it is subjective. I've used all 3 brands I prefer the Google pixel personally because the colours are more natural instead of doing the over saturation that Samsung does. Remember though that pixels usually get better with time so there will surely be alot of updates during the 7 years of support

I using it for just home google services /home phone. Happy overall. The biometrics with fingerprint and face unlock in low light is TRASH. Temperature sensor is a stupid gimmick. They should have used the space for SD card slot, IR blaster or some extra battery. Temp sensor is a waste of resources IMO missed opportunity for something more practical.

I, too, bought into the hype so I got the 8 PRO. However there is something hiding in plain sight here. Exatcly what is the AI doing in the phone? All the nice AI fearures requires photos to be uploaded to google before being available. Sooo in my mind its not using any AI/ML that's in the phone itself?

If you are a pixel fan and if you got a pixel 6 or below, it is worth the upgrade, but if you got an iPhone 15 or S23 line-up, you will be disappointed if you go to the Pixel 8 Pro, especially with the S24 around the corner to be released. The 8 Pro is not worth 1000 dollars in my opinion, the battery life is not that great compared to the 7 Pro, and charging times are slow, plus Google still has a reliability issue they need to fix with their customer base.

Maybe it's just me but I had to switch back to my s23u..... 23 hrs of battery off charge plus an amazing camera not to mention all my storage.... I got caught up in the hype and was severely disappointed... If you care for not having to carry a charger with you and about your photos/videos I would reconsider this pixel.... Let's not even start with the LAG when doing SIMPLE tasks plus the overheating ..... I gave this phone a full 48 hours..... Not impressed....

The s23 ultra is far superior with the s pen gestures and utilization when my fingers get tired and for photos from a distance , Samsung health , Samsung flow , Dex , Samsung TV , wireless projection , 10 x zoom , emulator gaming way beyond the iPhone 15 pro expensive gaming , superior multi tasking with exclusive edge panel up to 3 apps at a time , superior in screen fingerprint scanner etc . I used to have a pixel 3 and bought a galaxy s23 , and my goodness the camera quality pictures of people sucks on Samsung, i swear that i take better selfies and main camera pictures of myself in the gym with my pixel 3 than the new Samsung, it's outrageous that I'm looking to sell my phone now , My face would look incredibly washedout and muddy lacking any resemblance of details, so i tried the 50mp mode and it automatically adds on too much saturation that my skin shows very visible blotchiness that I can't fix, tried camera assistant app and expert raw and the stock camera to fix it Samsung horrible photo processing but couldn't make it work , I used to love Samsung but i will never buy their phones again , all reviews shows good lighting conditions for pictures, the minutes you take pictures indoors all the camera sharpness goes out the window and start to look like from a camera from 10 years ago 💔

Pixel 7 Pro- Auto brightness was a nightmare! Fingerprint reader embarrassingly terrible. Couldn’t cast to TV without a Chrome Cast. Battery Life Shockingly bad! Since switching to S23 Ultra, No handset touches this yet. It’s sooooooooooo bloody GOOD!

To be honest I’ve been enjoying the Pixel a whole lot more, not sure why. Maybe because it’s just more comfortable, and the UI is pleasing. But I agree, the Pixel 7 Pro had very real issues almost made me not want to pick this one up.

If we're being realistic, the only thing that you would use that raw power for on a smartphone would be gaming and that would be a graphic intensive quality type game. The pixel doesn't focus on raw power. It focuses on efficiency and managing its AI capabilities and assistant abilities which it does very well

To be quite frank, no, I think the images are fantastic and captured the scene quite well. Every camera has its own characteristics because of the sensor, and lens, like how Leica is really well known for vibrant reds. I think the Pixel looks fantastic. As far as outdated hardware, it has the best display in any smartphone, and fantastic cameras. The only area it's lacking is in performance because of the tensor G3. But you bet what you pay for. In Canada, this phone is nearly $500 cheaper than the 15 Pro Max.

@@valismind No it does not have best display not even close people see 2400 nits and they think that means it can maintain that 🤦 in fact most of the time it is not brighter than even the new iPhones and also it's missing Dolby Vision. It also has ufs 3.1 storage which is outdated compared to Samsung with UFS 4.0 and definitely outdated compared to the Nvme in iPhone, The modem is no way near the other phones either and the Battery Performance is also sub par and it doesn't even have video out from the usb port. And then there's the Biometric's the Fingerprint Scanner is still rubbish compared to S23U and the face unlock is Rubbish compared to iPhone they should have just gone one way or the other
