If I had to guess, he betrayed MX to get Lucas in the machine, and he chose to replace Luigi with Syobon to get more coverage of games. Notice how Luigi isn't bugged out in the fake world since he wasn't in the machine. Lucas, Syobon, Tally, and Solve are all likely bugged out as well.
