I’ve really been debating on getting a pixie frog. I love amphibians in general and other than a red eyed tree frog they are the only ones that interest! So thanks for sharing yours!

What bulb do you use? And do you use heat as well as UVB?

Hey, so I really need some help, would you guys think it's Okey to keep a corn snake without uvb? I know a lot of people don't use em. I just don't have the money for uvb but if I'll get a corn snake (it's a snow morph) I would get a deep heat projector becouse I do know it is a lot better that heat mats and heat lamps
@TheMambojack3 жыл бұрын
Corn snake do really well without UVB, they don't need them to be healthy, it's a plus but not mandatory. Heat projector too are not really needed, corn snakes are crepuscular, meaning they go out at dawn and sunset and they usually don't seek a basking spot, instead they rely on the heat built up in the rocks to warm from below, hence the heating mat being so popular. The light is needed to have a clear day/night cycle, but not for heating directly. What you can do is have the heat mat and full spectrum lamp for the day (4500K to 6000k, they do a bit of heat, and can grow plants) and just heat map for the night.
@stuckinthelazycorneragain40163 жыл бұрын
Well I personally think yes it is necessary. Even if they don’t need it to live, it can be beneficial to them. Corn snakes in the wild do have UVB even if its not a lot, that means that they should also be allowed it in captivity. And I’m not trying to be rude honestly; if you can’t afford equipment for an animal you shouldn’t get it. You wait until you can afford it. When getting an animal there will always be more expenses than planned for so if you don’t have the money for a UVB light, you won’t have money for other potential costs. Just my opinion though, you will do whatever you feel is best :)
@Living.Fossils3 жыл бұрын
@@TheMambojack I also have one more question. If I'm not gonna provide uvb that means that the snake isn't getting D3. And everyone says to not dust the snakes food as it is not needed. Doesn't that mean that I have no way of supplementing the snake d3, and the snake will get metabolic bone desease? Becouse it can't use the calcium without d3??
@antoniowyckoff23 жыл бұрын
Hello, awesome job!- question, do you take him out now to feed him? -or, do you trust that he will find whatever you put inside the enclosure? Thank you.
@reptiliangarden3 жыл бұрын
I used to feed him in a separate container, but now I’m allowing him to hunt in his own enclosure. I may do smaller amounts and watch to be sure he gets all of it

They’re similar, but Pac-Mans do not swim like pixies. They don’t require a water feature other than a shallow water bowl

My granddaughter wants a pet frog but I heard they can not be handled or touched because the oils in our hands are toxic to frogs and toads. Is that true? Are there any that are better at handling than others?
@Toadlily6473 жыл бұрын
That's true. Amphibians tend to be sensitive to oils and residue on our hands due to the nature of their sensitive skin. It's not advisable to hold amphibians for prolonged periods of time (more time than it takes to move them from point A to point B, or to inspect them). However, if you wash and thoroughly rinse your hands and/ or have wet hands while handling amphibians it's slightly better. There are also amphibian safe gloves you can purchase to reduce oil/ residue transfer to amphibian skin. Hope this all helps!

Zenhabitats has poor quality enclosures that aren't good for long term projects. The materials are flimsy and poorly made. They don't sell actual glass but crap acrylic glass that scratches easily and they don't care if it gets damaged in the shipping process! I love this channel but I feel like she is TOO BIAS towards Zens because she works for them and never has a shred of negative comments towards anything. That's fine and dandy but sadly her reviews on enclosures don't mean a thing in my opinion. I've seen more and more negative experiences coming out from customer service and quality from reptile pages and I'm glad others are speaking out!
@reptiliangarden3 жыл бұрын
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and that doesn’t exclude you. I honestly do love these enclosures and that is why I’m upgrading all of my animals to them! What’s nice about Zen is that they are always looking to improve and really do care what people think. For instance, the scratching of the acrylic. They recognize this is an issue with a lot of lizards and that is why they are going to be using glass in the next coming months instead. They are open minded and always changing things to make improvements. Thats something I admire and appreciate as a reptile keeper.
