I saw this movie on zee tv when i was in class 9 (2007) and instantly liked it very much. I tried to find this movie everywhere but i couldn't find it due to not knowing the name of the movie. Today i suddenly find this and after so many years it is still an amazing movie. ❤️❤️❤️

I saw this movie 34 years before on doordarshan when I was in school. i couldnt watch this movie fully bcoz of powercut. And I wanted to watch this movie for a long time and I was not knowing the name of this movie. Today after so many years I could watch this movie. Soooooo nice.

It’s our story literally I have lived in such a home where most of our time would be spent in our neighbours home. Our doors would always be open and we would go to each others homes as though they are our homes. Such rich childhood where money never ruled even though we made many sacrifices but never were sad due to them. Thanks to Rajshri and Basuji. Also all characters looks so genuine and this is true life we lived in our childhood in Mumbai chawls.

I think the suggestion by the old man is very practical. There is no point in staying cooped up. Many may not like this comment, but Mumbai is a tough place to own a house. Malati and her husband would have been ten times better anywhere than in the matchbox homes.

Also love of family members cannot solve the persistent issue of lack of privacy. Some or the other time, it will become a huge issue. At that time even loving family cannot suffice it. What the old man said is true and practical. I am not saying that the message in the movie is wrong. But it is worth saying that what is presented and what happens in reality is starkly different. I have grown up seeing movies which have passed on the message that for whatever deficiencies one has in life (low income, no place to stay, not much to eat, no resources to fulfill basic life goals), love can cover up for that. In fact even I tried it in my life. I witnessed what these movies or serials missed to tell. Love cannot cover up for all. You are bound to feel unsatisfied, unloved, dejected

It is one of the earlier films of Anil Dhavan and Jaya Bhaduri' .Produced by Rajashri it's based on a Marathi film Mumbaicha Javai. The song Yeh Jeevan hai got Filmfare Best Song. This was my favorite movie when I was young. Anil Dhavan also performed excellently. However, he did not emerged there after.
