My mom made these alot growing up. Hamburger,onion, pizza sauce and one can of cream of mushroom soup. Cheese and Italian seasoning on top and bake. Love them.

i grew up in iowa in the 80s. i just stumbled on this video. seems like i remember in elementary school there and then we had pizza burgers on menu once a month or every 3 weeks. but i thought they were a breaded patty. i wonder if someone used to make a pizza burger patty. My dad worked for school so i got lot of insider info at time. they got a lot of frozen meats or products from tysons..... which is headquartered in the city im in now by chance. the crispitos i liked were from tysons too. back in iowa back then my dad would be able to buy a case of what ever foods we liked from the school for their costs. got crispitos and McRibs or MrRibs as school called them by the case. so im guessing the pizza burgers i remember may have come from tysons too?????

Where I live a lot of people don’t know about pizza burgers but I grew up on them. That’s what I’m cooking tomorrow. I actually just searched to see if there were anything on KZbin about them

I was looking for a thin burger with sauce and cheese inside … we use to buy them pre-made in my home town growing up and even the greasy things they were , I want to recreate … I’ll season the raw burger and roll thin and freeze .. add a spoon of sauce and cheese and then try to mold sides together and freeze again … pan fry when ready ! Wish me luck !

I use English muffins they hold up a little better instead of buns then meat/a little more pizza sauce and a slice of mozzarella cheese on top

We used to have "pizza burgers" at school, but I don't think this is the same. I'm starting to suspect the meat base was leftover chili or taco meat. You might consider trying top split hotdog buns for the bread. We do that now for sloppy joes, pressing in the insides of the bun to create more of a pocket. It makes for a no-mess, one-hand loose meat sandwich.

These were the kind of pizza burgers that were made in cafeteria schools back in the 70's

@@chunkymunkey9182 no. The cheese was on the inside of the meat on those pizza burgers. I ate them in school then served them for years in a restaurant where I waitressed. And it was in a patty not ground up meat.
