The sound of a nuclear warhead dropping, so far away that nobody could even see it, was heard. The fact that nobody saw where it was dropped was scarier than seeing the explosion, as it shows the kind of raw power that is on display here. Plok held an M3 submachine gun in his hands, feeling an itch on his forehead that he couldn't scratch thanks to the almost cartoon neon green helmet forced onto his head. He looked into the dark sky. It was a cloudy sunset, an unnatural dark red filling the sky. Plok sighed, jumping off the boat that he was shoved onto by a commander that he can't even remember the face or name of, but had a voice he'll hear in his dreams for the next 40 years, or however much longer it'll take for him to kick the bucket or lose enough of his marbles to give his mind peace and quiet. He looked behind him. A familiar chef was cowering in fear, wearing the same helmet he did, but leaving his identical gun on the floor as he shook with anxiety. Plok never caught his name, but remembered them being together in training. Plok reached a hand out, slowly and within his vision, as to not scare him. "...Hey..." Plok said in the most gentle way he could. The guy was never really good at being soft, he's more of a "get angry and rip up the place" type, but he's going to try just this once and hope he doesn't fail. The chef jolted up, still shaking, and apart from his head tilting, he remained the same position. Plok turned his fist into an open palm. "Are you okay?" The chef looked down. "...i just-a wanted to be a chef-a..." He whispered. Plok sighed. "I know how you feel. I don't wanna be here. I'm royalty for Pete's sake! I'm the grand duke of the Poly-Esta! But apparently they 'never heard of it.' None of us want to be here." The chef's arms lowered from the anxious, raptor-like position they were in. "...Then-a why fight-a?" Plok looked at his hands, almost trying to answer the question for himself more than his buddy in war. "Because we have something to protect. They say it's for our country, but for me, it's my grandpappy." The chef looked at him. "He may no longer be with me, but my grandpappy taught me everything, and I remember his war stories, and how proud he was to fight. I want to be like him! He was so cool...what about you?" The chef looked to the side. "...My-a restaurant..." Plok gently grabbed his hand. "You wanna keep that, don't you?" The chef nodded. "Then let's give 'em hell, mister..." He grabbed his gun and stood up. "...Peppino." Plok gently let go, then cocked his gun with a grimace. "Let's march."
