Talent beyond words! Some of these songs sound other worldly like Gregorian chants coming out of one person. She's a chameleon... changing with each record. True artist!

What I love so much about P.J. is how eclectic a songwriter she is -- how each album sounds different from the one before -- how masterful she is at the different ways she manifests her talent as a musician, writer, lyricist and performer! I loved White Chalk the moment I played the album for the first time (as I do all albums by P.J., for that matter but especially-so with respect to this one) -- for how much of a departure it was from previous records being that it was so minimalistic with just herself, her voice and a piano!

She is so special and masterful in being eclectic, isn't she? Actually, White Chalk was the one that really turned me on to her. I respected her before that, but somehow I didn't feel it was my thing. Then WC came out and I was blown away - so much depth and diversity and feeling. So I embarked on this exploration journey of what she had ever done..... And I never looked back. Now WC is probably still in my top 5, but the number one spot keeps changing. I not always like her new stuff, but I do like it that she truely never repeats herself. So if the latest album is not exactly my cup of tea, who am I to judge - it might be her favourite or the one that opens someone else's mind and stick in there. :)

Kinda sad she wrote 60 songs for White Chalk and all we got for B-sides were two early compositions

PJ Harvey and Andy Partridge of XTC are the two most underrated composers that I can think of (but they are NOT underrated by musicians.)

Listening to her talking about the creative process of this album made me listen to it carefully for the first time now. Yeah... it is something from hell, actually. Frighteningly sad and beautiful at the same time.

Boy, whoever is with her (and we all know someone must be with her) must be very confident in themselves. Her myriad of talents must be quite humbling to be around. Like, they would just have to know not to compare themselves against her. It would be intimidating for 95% of men most likely, but not all. I wish she hadn't become so focused on words at that point where she started reading poetry. I listen to Sylvia Telles all the time. I have no clue what Sylvia is saying in most of her songs (I don't speak Portuguese), but I love her singing - so much, and I listen, frequently. Totally agree with the interviewer that she's a huge inspiration - for millions. I think should be for Billions as she's very under recognized (here in US anyways - pretty much only college radio stations).

P-J. Doesn't have to reinvent herself - she is - Queen of the Nu-Blues ... And few musicians - inside are close to this musical ether
