Just shreds me each time I listen... The intro, the chorus... the 28,000. Thank God for PJ. As a ballad decrying loss, this is one of the most powerful I have ever heard. And while we watch them fade out, we blink away another bit of our own humanity.

great song..........stunning video.During the making of her new album, Miss Polly Jean traveled extensively in the war-torn regions of Kosovo and Afghanistan . Subsequently, the refrain "Hey Little Children Don't Disappear" -- with its haunting chorus "I Heard it was 28 thousand" -- hits with an acutely meaningful impact. Totally channeling Siouxie, and I love every minute of it.

How does PJ Harvey just get better and better!!!! I have been a fan for over 10 years now and i would say PJ Harvey has been the soundtrack to most of my adult life... Her songs have helped me deal with sad moments, happy moments, loving moments and grateful moments. She is an absolute gem! I can't wait to see her live for the second time next year when her tour hits my country! PJ Harvey showed me how to FEEL!

Brilliant! Polly has a way of writing the most honest and moving music around....Her lyrics are not flamboyant, or aspire to false intellectualisation, they are compressed, raw, emotive and delivered with a gunshot. As for the music, you always think that the blend is perfection! Mick Harvey has been a great partner to work with. This album will exceed expectations even beyond "Shake" . And I agree..... she is so far ahead of anyone else because she is true to her work. Can't Wait till the Sixteenth!

Lyrics a revolving wheel of metal chairs Hung on chains, squealing Four little children flying out A blind man sings in Arabic Hey little children don’t disappear (I heard it was 28,000) Lost upon a revolving wheel (I heard it was 28,000) Now you see them, now you don’t Children vanish ‘hind vehicle Now you see them, now you don’t Faces, limbs, a bouncing skull Hey little children don’t disappear (I heard it was 28,000) All that’s left after a year (I heard it was 28,000) A faded face, the trace of an ear (I heard it was 28,000) A tableau of the missing Tied to the government building 8,000 sun-bleached photographs Faded with the roses Hey little children don’t disappear (I heard it was 28,000) Lost upon a revolving wheel (I heard it was 28,000) All that’s left after a year (I heard it was 28,000) A faded face, the trace of an ear (I heard it was 28,000) And watch them fade out And watch them fade out And watch them fade out...

Revisiting this song after a few years. Something it reminds me of: There is this survey that passes around on social media, asking men what women they admire- It's irritating, because they usually have to specify women NOT including their mother. PJ Harvey is one of my all time heroes. Serious badass, she is. First time I heard her music, I was really jealous- not of her, but of the dudes in her backing band. I would drop everything to play for someone with a vision as strong as hers.

Really fantastic new recording. Such energy and passion. Bringing that signature genius that is PJ Harvey. The saxophone really gives it a new sound on tracks like the ministry of social affairs, the build up in the orange monkey and then the darkness of the ministry of defence is epic. And the two lead singles "The Wheel" and " the community of hope" are the catchiest PJ Harvey songs since stories from the city.

+Hejira#2854 It's not that simple. Cinematography, the art and technology of motion-picture photography. It involves such techniques as the general composition of a scene; the lighting of the set or location; the choice of cameras, lenses, filters, and film stock; the camera angle and movements; and the integration of any special effects. What she complimented was the photography because this film is made by a photographer. Not all of the elements above, which describes cinematography.

+chrismail The distinction should be motion pictures and still photographs, because both are photography.

The male backing vocals doing the response to PJ's lines in this just remind me of the ones in Kate Bush's Army Dreamers.
