I remember growing up opposite this factory in the 70's and 80's when it employed 5-6000 people and all the site was British Aerospace only. We used to see airframes going in and out and the wind tunnels were very active with testing. The runway you saw used to run a lot further up. In fact it used to run almost up to the large pond which did allow for planes to takeoff and land. The pond was owned by Blackburn Angling and the employees used to fish there while also having open competitions and Juvenile competitions. All the security guards used to be ex forces however that may not be the case now. Nice video and very nostalgic. Strange to see it how it is now as I remember it when there was literally a stream of people coming in all the time from the train station which is about a 5 min walk from where you were filming on Saltgrounds Road.

The security license training should include relevant laws. The problem is that security, like policing, doesn’t rely on the officers knowing laws, it relies on the publics ignorance of laws.

Good to see you back PJ, and another great video with DJ, I am not going to be too harsh on the security man ( Foggy ) but I wish they stop being deluded and saying you can't video even from the outside bla bla bla and we will confiscate your equipment, They really need to be updated and learn that they can't stop members of public outside on public land. As for the manager what a decent enough guy he was and very professional so massive WELL DONE to him.

What makes the old boy think you cant film, surely there would be some sort of boundary or fence with signs up saying “no photography from this point”. you cant have a site visible from public including a static aircraft on display and then claim no filming. That’s entrapment. Good job the second guy had a bit more sense

I've got happy memories of working at that site. when I helped with the IT infrastructure part of a site move for a valve manufacturing company. From memory I drove straight on and off site without any security intervention. I don't know if they've tightened up security since then? I drove on site with my dashcam on. Making it the usual thing of no-one batting an eye at certain types of filming whilst having a strong reaction to other types of filming.

Yeh, i did 7yr in the Yorkshire Regiment (Duke of Wellingtons) down Warminster (Battlesbury Barracks). I was a gunner/driver for the warriors. I'm pretty sure there's a BAE systems situated on Salisbury Plain, amongst other buildings. Think they make ammunition. Keep up the good work guys 👍

We will have to be cautious that any future government doesn’t try to take away our rights of public access & photography by saying you can see it on the internet so you don’t need a right to physically access or record in public. I can see it happening as we get sloppy with our protesting.
