Bad Apple was first announced as ‘feat. SEKAI’ and was part of the Touhou collab, leading people to believe it would be similar to Yoru Ni Kakeru Iirc sega has confirmed that mixed unit covers are only in certain cases, eg. anniversary songs, connect lives (paid content) and (more accessibly) collaborations, so people were hoping for their favourite characters to be able to sing together only for it to go to Nightcord As someone that was somewhat disappointed, I was thought it would be fine but wasn’t sure whether nightcord’s vocals would fit as well as some other characters could have (iirc I’d wanted Honami, Haruka, An, Rui and Mafuyu because yoru ni kakeru wasn’t strictly leaders) but the moment I heard the new arrangement in a different key I realised n25 was the right choice xD I understand why people are upset because mixed unit songs are so rare, esp for non leaders, but personally it warmed up to me a ton when I heard it xD

can you imagine minori singing the song in a way that doesn't sound horribly out of place? no? then stop complaining about what we got, which is genuinely good. if you think it doesn't fit them, reread the lore until you get the picture. it's a sad song, they're the sad group. there's apples, they have an apple motif. it fits better with them than it ever would have for group leaders or wxs or ln or whoever you wanted to cover it.
