Trying to Fly Fish A Flooded River....

This year the fly fishing has been lots of lows and not many highs and the constant rains had kept me away from the river. Well I was determined, this was tough, I was exhausted from wading against the river and absolutely soaking wet! But I loved it!!

Thanks for taking us along! I''m about the same as you when it comes the the dry flies - a trout taking a dry is magic to me - I'll continue using them even when I full know it's nymphs that they want.

Well done for catching anything in those conditions on the dry fly Paul. You have discovered why I retired that style net for one with a smaller mesh, the little trout on the Taw kept going through the holes!!

Thanks Chris, it's been a tough year and with the weather turning, I doubt it is going to improve. That net has had me scratching my head as I had to buy a new one this year, the fish are definitely getting smaller! I've just ordered a net with mesh. Thanks for watching Chris

Well done Paul at least you got one to the net, weather been awful here as well with heavy rain every 4/5 days , went to one river yesterday and dam regulates height so wasn't too bad but after 4hrs had just one small brown but today went too new private beat I have gained and although it was half in spate had 4 grayling all about 1lb plus and a single brown about the same all on F fly, best grayling bag ever so you never can tell.

I've only been fly fishing for maybe 7 years but this is certainly the toughest season I've had. Well done on the Grayling!
