I love pests. Sean Avery was one of the best pests of his time, and maybe ever. When he was on the Rangers, there was nothing more fun than to see him cause a meltdown in their top three big dollar players -- Brodeur, Kovalchuk, and Clarkson -- and made them just normal average everyday players. That's the value of Sean Avery, and it was fun to watch it happen. Cracked me up!!!...I liked what he said about the Red Wings and life lessons. At that time I lived in Colorado and was doing my master's degree in music. I watched all the Avs games and rooted for then, the Red Wings' rival at the time. I learned from Peter Forsberg what "greatness" is -- it is being consistently good (so your worst game is better than most people's average game) and, beyond that, sometimes even brilliant. (Did my PhD at McGill and watched all the Habs games there PK! :D)...Plus, I appreciate that Avery is pro-democracy with his LGBTQ activism. He is a good person, but he just had a job to do on the ice.
@justinthomas854 жыл бұрын
As a "unbiased" Devils fan, i think his interaction with Clarkson brought out the best of each of them. That was when Clarkson came into his prime as the counter to Avery but had the skills to back it up. Kovy was a high strung player that Avery could easily get worked up. I give the advantage to Avery (but will always remember Kovy ragdolling him in the preseason). Marty v Sean was a classic, always will be. To see and hear Sean talk about Marty in a semi respectable way only makes me like, appreciate and miss Avery more. The games have never been the same since they both left. But as a goalie, Marty was much more limited to what he could do. I enjoyed hearing Sean tell PK about the little things that often went unnoticed that 30 would do to him in front of the net. End of an enjoyable era. Cheers.

I watched Barrie colts when Sheldon Keefe Ryan Barnes Mike Jefferson won the ohl game 7 vs Plymouth whalers... Avery was exciting but he was a baby compared to Sheldon Keefe back then, let alone mike Jefferson Ryan Barnes Luch Nasato he ran. But Avery prevailed and the rest are history he played the type of hockey I watched in the ohl and progressed it to a nhl level. Respect to him for being who he always was and adding nhl skill to his game. He never changed he wasn’t unpredictable, but he did exactly what you knew he could every night! Respect Avery

They need PK but they cannot clear the cap for him. They won't play PK correctly either. Pk needs to be let loose to be more offensive by also having guys who can play both ways. Toronto doesn't have forwards who can truly play two ways other than Tavares.

@@Fakename70 I'd call flying elbows to the head and slewfoots dirty. Maybe you should watch his early career with the habs bud. Avery did less dirty things than Subban, and they were both pests.
