Πριν το 1821 η Θήβα, ωστόσο γύρω της υπήρχανε μόνο αρβανιτοχωρια ήτανε πλήρως ελληνόφωνη. Ούτε μια Αρβανιτικη συνοικία. Και στην Αθήνα οι Ελληνες ήτανε πολυάριθμοί (8000 πρόσωπα) σε αντίθεση στους Αρβανιτες (1500 και μόνο η Πλάκα).

"Athens were built as an Arvanitochori". What an inlogical nonsense. How it could be created as an Arvanitochori, when it existed continuously from the ancient times, though smaller since the early medieval? By 1821 Athens were the only exception in Attic (together with Oropos and Megara) when the Greeks dominated. Arvanites of Plaka were later settlers, they came to the city when it had been already populated by the Greeks. And in 1821 year they numbered only 1500 people in contrary to 8000 Greek inhabitants. But of course the author of this film will not write about these facts, because his aim is obviously not to spread the overall truth but to cause shock.

Τι είναι αυτά που λέτε; και οι δύο παππούδες μου γεννήθηκαν το 1905 και μιλούσαν ελληνικά, πήγαν σχολείο και οι γιαγιάδες μου επίσης και οι προπαπουδες μου. Τι αλβανική προπαγάνδα μας σερβίρουν πάλι; οι αρβανίτες ήρθαν από την σημερινή Βόρεια Ηπειρο, ξέρω δεν αρέσει αυτή η ονομασία, από τον 14ο αιώνα. Εδώ δεν βρήκαν άλλους ανθρώπους; στη σημερινή Αλβανία δεν πήγαν άλλοι έποικοι αυτούς τους αιώνες; ας δουλέψει λίγο η λογική γιατί όλο μπαρούφες ακούμε. Είμαι από "χωριό" των Αθηνών, σπουδαίο αρχαίο Δήμο της Αθήνας και με πλούσια ιστορική και λαογραφική παράδοση. Ακόμα και στα οθωμανικά αρχεία ελληνικά ονομάζονταν τα χωριά της Αττικής, τουλάχιστον γι'αυτά ξέρω, απλά οι αρβανίτες ήταν οι ακρίτες του Ελληνισμού απο την μεριά της Δύσης. Όποιος αισθάνεται Αλβανός δικαίωμά του, αλλά να μιλάει για τον εαυτό του μόνο και αν θέλει να πάει να ζήσει και στην Αλβανία, είναι σε μεγάλη ανάπτυξη με τα λεφτά που ρίχνει ο Ερντογάν.

400 villages is not much. And many of them were bilingual (mixed). During that time most of these villages had hundreds or dozens of inhabitants. On the other hand, the city of Smyrna alone had some 300.000 Greeks. It's the city's that count. Out of 5-6 million Greeks during that time only 1,1 million lived in the Greek kingdom. In that kingdom there were some 130.000 to 170.000 Arvanites. Duly noted.

You should study the historical resources of that period. Our concept of Greek has changed a lot since its conceptualization. The population in Smyrna was not accepted as Greeks by mainland Greeks. So we should take in to account the different criteria we use through the time in our classifications.

@@nickolasgaspar9660 There was bias when the Smyrniots were deported to mainland Greece, for sure. Also, one could say that Greeks from Asia Minor had their own sub-identity. But to argue that they were not regarded as Greeks is utterly false. When the Greek army landed in Smyrna around 1919, the city was full of Greek flags. Their theaters were full of Greek plays about the Greek heroes of the independence war a century before. This was during the later years of the Ottoman empire. If they were not regarded as Greeks, the Greek army would never have set foot there. In any case, I don't see what this had to do with the average number of Arvanites in comparison to the total Greek population. Be it Greeks from Asia Minor or Vlachs, or whatever.

@@soik1401 there is nothing "false". Ethnicity is an abstract concept made by humans that changed through time. The Greek government found an excuse to invade the area. Now apply your logic to the population of Smyrna to how Albanians view Arvanites in Greece....and you have your answer.

So under what criteria would you decide if Greeks from Smyrna are Greek or not? You are cherry picking a narrative.

@@soik1401 you are confusing different periods mate. Arvanites were Albanian speaking populations that movedin Greece before the ideas of Nation States were even a thing. Modern Arvanites are Greek citizens...so thanks to the national system of education they obviously won't raise any albanian flags. The issue here are the roots of both populations in Smyrna and Arvinites. If you acknowledge that Smyrna's population was of Greek descent you will need to do to Orthodox Albanians. After all internationally the term Arvinites doesn't exist. Historical resources label them as Albanians. Now , the "Greek" population in Smyrna raised the flags because they were discriminated by the establishment.(religion and enemies of the state). You need to focus on the criteria we now use to identify the ethnicity of a population and we need to use the same criteria in order to avoid special pleading fallacy.

Δεν μου λες, μια και αναφερεις τον Edmund About ως "Ειδικο" : Το ηξερες οτι αποκαλουσε τους Αλβανους ως Σλαβους και την Αλβανικη γλωσσα ως σλαβικη(μαλλον σλαβικο ιδιωμα). Οπως λεει και ο καθηγητης του Cambridge Sir Colin Renfrew: Η γλωσσα δεν καθοριζει απαραιτητα την καταγωγη ακι εθνικη συνειδηση του. Π.χ. οι Ουγγροι ειναι κατα 94% Κεντρω-Ευρωπαιοι και μολις 6% Μαγιαροι. Αλλα μιλανε και νιωθουν Μαγιαροι. Η Παλαιοανθρωπολιγικη ερευνα και η ερευνα γενετικης δειχνεις τους περισσοτερους Αρβανιτες, Ηπειρωτες και Νοτιο Αλβανους κατα 90% Μεσογειακους και μολις 10% Διναρικους. Η θεωρια Fallmerayer εχει εδω και χρονια καταρριφθει. Το τεστ γενετικης εχει αποδειξει ως σωστη την Εγνατια Οδο του Στραβων, που ελεγε οτι πανω απο αυτην ζουνε Ιλλυρικα φυλλα και κατο απο αυτην Ηπειρωτικα. Μην σου πω την ερευνα Ιταλου Αρχαιολογου που απεδειξε και τους Βιλλιωτες ως Ελληνες.

Bόρεια Ήπειρος είναι νεολογισμών γκρεκών πολιτικών του 21 αιώνα. Πριν δεν αναφέρεται πουθενά σε κανένα έγγραφο ως όρος ούτε γεωγραφικός, ούτε εθνικός. Οι αλβανοί της Ηπείρου ήταν συντριπτικά περισσότεροι μουσουλμάνοι και ορθόδοξοι σε σχέση με τα βλαχαδερά και ελληνόφωνους.

Αμα δεν μπορείς να καταλάβεις και τα βασικά τότε μην ασχολείσαι καθόλου με τέτοια θέματα. Άκου εκεί άλλο Αλβανοί και αλλο Αρβανιτες.( Εδώ γελάει και ο τελευταίος ιστορικός που σέβεται τον εαυτό του και το αντικείμενο σπουδών του). Εγώ κατάγομαι απο κάποιο χωριό της Κορινθίας και ξέρω ότι γύρω στα 10 με 15 χωριά ήταν αρβανίτικα όχι 61.Ασχολήθηκα με το θέμα διότι με ενδιέφερε και μίλησα με πολλούς παλαιούς που τώρα έχουν φύγει από τη ζωή.Στην Κορινθία σήμερα ελάχιστοι είναι αυτοί που μιλούν Αρβανίτικα και σε λίγα χρόνια δεν θα έχει μείνει κανείς.Εκτός της γλώσσας αυτό που είχα παρατηρήσει και από παλαιές φωτογραφίες είναι ότι οι Αρβανίτες ξεχώριζαν από τη βραχυσωμία τους (οι άντρες δεν ξεπερνούσαν το 1,63) και το τραχύ και σκληρό πολλές φορές χαρακτήρα τους.Πολιτισμικά και τεχνολογικά ήταν κάπως οπισθοδρομικοί π.χ. μου είχαν πει ότι τα παλαιά σπίτια στα χωριά δεν είχαν τζάκια αλλά άναβαν φωτιά στο κέντρο του δωματίου με το καπνό να φεύγει από μία τρύπα στην οροφή.Επίσης είχαν κάποια ιδιαίτερα έθιμα πχ το νεαρότερο αγόρι κληρονομούσε τα χωράφια και το πατρικό και είχε την υποχρέωση να έχει τους παππούδες στο σπίτι μέχρι να πεθάνουν.Ανθρωπολογικά (χαρακτηριστικά κρανίου και προσώπου) οι Αρβανίτες αυτοί δεν έμοιαζαν με τους Αλβανούς που ήλθαν μετά το '91 απο την Αλβανία. Οι λεγόμενοι σύγχρονοι Αλβανοί δεν είναι ένας λαός ομοιογενής και οι ελληνογενείς ,μεσογειακοί πληθυσμοί του νότου διαφέρουν κατά πολύ από τους Γκέγκες του Βορρα που έχουν έντονα χαρακτηριστικά (πρόσωπο σαν πεντάγωνο,φαρδύ επίπεδο κούτελο,έντονες ρυτίδες) και είναι αυτοί που μπορούμε και τους ξεχωρίζουμε με μία ματιά.Οταν μετέπειτα ταξίδεψα στην Αλβανία για δουλιές αυτό ήταν πασιφανές.Αυτοί οι Αλβανοί έμοιαζαν πάρα πολύ με Καυκάσιες φυλές(Νταγκεστάν,Γεωργία κ.α.) και πρέπει να έχουν δίκιο όσοι λένε ότι οι Ρωμαίοι τους έφεραν από το Καύκασο ,αποκλείεται να έχουν σχέση με τους αρχαίους Ιλλυριούς που ήταν μεσογειακο/ διναρικό φύλο.Οσο για τα αρβανίτικα είναι ναι μεν Αλβανικά αλλά ακριβώς από που προήλθαν τα λεγόμενα Αλβανικά κανείς δεν ξέρει.Συμπερασματικά θα έλεγα ότι οι Αρβανίτες του μεσαίωνα που κατοίκησαν στην Ελλάδα και τελικά αφομοιώθηκαν από τους γηγενείς Ελληνες ήταν ένα φύλο ανθρωπολογικά συγγενές (Ηπειρώτες ,Τόσκες) με την ίδια θρησκεία,κάπως διαφορετικά έθιμα και σαφώς κατώτεροι πολιτισμικά.

Εδώ σε νομο Ιωαννινω και Δυτικη Μακεδονια οι Αρβανιτες ηταν μειοψηφια, υπαρχουν ελαχιστα ως καθολου αρβανιτοχώρια. πολύ αμφιβαλλω αν ηταν πουθενα εκτος από Βοιωτια και Αττικη η πλειοψηφια του πληθυσμου. Στο πρωτο ελληνικο Βασιλειο μετα το 1821 ηταν γυρω στις 150 - 200.000 το πολυ οι Αρβανιτοφωνοι με πανω από ένα εκατομμυριο πληθυσμο. Γενικα πηγαν καποια στιγμη να μας περασουν ότι οι προγονοι μας δε μιλαγαν ελληνικα η δεν ηταν κάθε αυτου απ τον ελλαδικο χωρο κτλ. Ενώ η αληθεια είναι πως στην Ελλαδα το κάθε αυτου ελληνοφωνο στοιχειο ηταν το μεγαλυτερο διάστημα η πλειοψηφια του πληθυσμου.

Όσω για την ιστορία,το Ελληνικό Κράτος ούτε 100 χρόνια πρίν απο την ίδρυση του Αλβανικού Κράτους έχει.Άσε δε που ως πρώτο κυβερνίτη του Ελληνικου Κρατους το 1830-32 διωρίστικε ο λεγόμενος Καποδήστριας απο το Αργυρόκαστο παρακαλώ(δεν βρέθηκε κάποιος άραγε λίγο πιο νότια,στην Ελλάδα?),ο οποίος εί χε ως πρώτο όνομα ενα άλλο που οι έλληνες του το άλλαξαν ή το έκρυψαν

Να σου αναφέρω πως σοβαρότατες μελέτες του Cupitori,Giuzepe Catapano,Nikos Stillos βεβαιώνουν πως το ετρουσκικό αλφάβητο,είναι ιλλυρικό γιατί οι Πελασγοί και στη συνέχεια οι ιλλυρίοι δεν είχαν μόνο τα 26 γράμματα της σημερινής ελληνικής αλφαβήτου. Επίσης να αναφέρω τις πόλις DURACUM,BUTRINT,APOLLONIA, LISSI κ.α.Εάν πάς εκεί υπάρχουν και αγάλματα ή τμήματα τους που έχουν διασωθεί μέχρι και σήμερα. Να σου υπενθημήσω πώς στην τότε Ιλλυρία διεξάχθηκαν 2 σφοδρότατοι ιλλυρορωμαικοί πόλεμοι που διύρκισαν δύο ή 4 αιώνες όπου επικράτησαν οι Ρωμαίοι και έκαψαν απο τα θεμέλια πολλές απο τις εξέχουσες πόλις και χωριά.Δέν έμεινε τίποτα όρθιο και όπως ξέρεις ο κατακτητής κάνει κουμάντο για όλα,οικονομία,στρατό,σχολεία,γλώσσα. Να σου αναφέρω τους ιλλυρίους αυτοκράτορες μεταξή άλλων και τον Μέγα Κωνσταντίνο ή τον Ιουστινιανό. Η Κωνσταντινόπολη απο τον Μ.Κωνσταντίνο πείρε αυτό το όνομα και τη δόξα του.. Μην πώ για τους καπετανέους Αρβανίτες στην πλειωνότητα τους που ελευθέρωσαν την Ελλάδα απο τους Οθωμανούς το 1821-1830 kai stis βουλευτικές συνεδριάσεις και Επίδαυρο αλλά και Αθήνα μιλούσαν οι πιο πολύ Αρβανίτικα δηλ.ALBAN Tον δε G.KASTRIOTI τον άφησα τελευταίο μιας και είναι ο πιο σπουδέος πρίγκηπας των Αλβανών το Μεσαίωνα ο οποίως 25 χρόνια απέτρεψε τους Οθωμανούς να βαδίσουν πρός το Βατικανό και γεννικα στην Ιταλία και υπόλυπη Ευρώπη και γι'αυτο τιμήθηκε με το ανώτερο τίτλο ιππότης και αθλητής του Χριστιανισμού απο το Βατικανό. Τώρα εάν εγώ είμαι ILLYR Ή ΈΛΛΗΝ λίγη σημασία έχει.Απλά γνωρίζω ότι προέρχομαι απο τη χώρα του ΑLBAN και με τη γλώσσα που μιλώ ακόμα και τώρα καταλαβαίνω καλύτερα τα αρχαία ελληνικά απο τι ο σημερινός"ΈΛΛΗΝ"... Every butthurt Greek or Arvanites commenting here just doesn't speak or understand Arvanitika for if he understood the language, that person would never had a doubt in his mind that Arvanites and Albanians are one and the same thing. Says an Albanian whose language is constructed in 70% from Latin and minor Slavic borrowings and only some 20-30% of maybe Illyrians/Dacian or Mysian words. Not that I want to be malicious (personally I like this unique language) but your exagerrations are hillarious. The vast majority of our Greek lexicon is inherited right from the ancient Greek (I do not include the learned borrowings from Katharevousa). Of course there are a lot of borrowings from different languages, and the language itself got very simplified, but it only enriched our tongue and is a natural consequency of years of continous evolution. This is a thing to be proud of and surely links us with the ancient: the language and the terittory we occupy. Genetics surely too, to a some level. To Your information I study both ancient Greek and Albanian so I am not a man who does not know what he writes ;)
