my jee adv rank was 2028 and my mains rank was 7k and i joined a pvt collage and i started preparing for gate cse from 1st year and got rank 121 after 3 attempt and it is a waste of time as i improved my theoretical knowledge but my skills were avg due to which i was not able to get good placement and my collage life also got fuc**d. TIP -- You should prepare for mtech only if yo are willing to sacrifice you precious time and frs as it is also like jee but if you want to crack gate you should start from 3 rd year as 1 year is enough and you should work on your skills trust me my fr also cracked gate as he was an avg student in his first attempt he just prepare for general aptitude as he was having skills FOR CORE STUDENTS -- give gate for PSUs or mtech you will get a good placement no need to shift to non core branch dont trust iits placement report as they don't mention off campus placement
