Day 1: The Journey Begins
Our journey started early in the morning from Bangalore, and by the afternoon, we reached the enchanting Pine Forest in Ooty. This mesmerizing location is a popular shooting spot for Bollywood movies, surrounded by towering trees that offer a peaceful escape into nature. The crisp, cool air and scenic beauty made it a perfect spot after a long drive.
Later, we headed to the tranquil Wenlock Downs, known for its vast stretches of rolling meadows and green landscapes. This location is often referred to as the ‘Shooting Point’ because of its appearance in many classic films. The serene atmosphere made it a perfect place to unwind and soak in Ooty’s natural beauty. We ended the day here, feeling relaxed and in awe of the panoramic views.
Day 2: Exploring Pykara and More
On the second day, we began our adventure at the Pykara Boathouse, only to find it closed due to a shortage of water in the lake. Despite this, our spirits remained high as we headed to the nearby Pykara Waterfalls. This beautiful waterfall is considered one of Ooty's prime attractions.
Next, we drove to the Needle View Rock Point, a popular viewpoint that offers stunning panoramic vistas of the surrounding valleys and hills. Unfortunately, it was closed due to an elephant family residing there for the past couple of days. Despite the closure, we managed to capture breathtaking drone shots of the viewpoint from afar, giving us a glimpse of the majestic scenery.
In the evening, we treated ourselves at Le Café, a cozy spot nestled in the heart of Ooty. Known for its delightful beverages and delicious desserts, this café provided the perfect ambiance to end our day on a sweet note.
Day 3: Toy Train Adventure Turned into a Coonoor Exploration
On the third day, we were all set to ride the famous Heritage Toy Train from Coonoor to Ooty. Since tickets from Ooty to Coonoor were unavailable, we opted for the reverse route. However, upon reaching Coonoor, we learned that the train had been canceled due to fallen trees on the tracks. Instead of being disheartened, we took this as an opportunity to explore Coonoor, a charming hill station known for its tea estates, beautiful gardens, and laid-back vibe. (I'll share all the details of Coonoor in a separate, dedicated video.)
Day 4: A Successful Toy Train Ride and Farewell to Ooty
On the fourth day, we finally managed to book our toy train ride from Ooty to Coonoor. The heritage train, a UNESCO World Heritage site, offered a mesmerizing experience as it wound through picturesque valleys, tunnels, and tea plantations. After enjoying this iconic ride, we headed back to Bangalore, our hearts filled with beautiful memories of Ooty’s serenity and charm.
