Impressed!!! Check at home depot, or a Lowes? There is a plastic level, that attaches to a post with a rubber elastic, it goes around the post, they can be used with metal or wood, on the inside they have magnets for metal, I have used these for metal fencing and wooden posts, they make leveling a post quite easy, especially when the post is in concrete. Great job, never give up!!!
@HiddenSpringFarmАй бұрын
I know exactly what you’re talking about out I have one of those levels. I actually used it on the first post I did but I think mine is broken or off cause the post wasn’t plumb at all so I just stopped using it.

What you need is a proper toolbelt. I couldn't imagine being without one on a farm, at least not during these kinds of projects

I do use a harness toolbelt, I just don’t usually use it when I’m filming cause it’s a pain to keep pressing record get up the ladder put in one screw then get down and press stop. If I had someone filming maybe it’d be ok. I’ll show it off one day 😉

@HiddenSpringFarmАй бұрын
It probably wont be our home until the mortgage is paid cause that’ll be a huge project both in scope and cost. I could build a tiny house for rent probably for a few thousand dollars especially since I can make most of my own lumber now.

You can get those laser tapes, I don’t know much about them but someone measured up some rooms in the house a few years ago with one so I presume they work.

Sorry it’s been so busy on the farm we haven’t got to watch any of the sawmill series. We’ll have to play catch up! I really like the way you work; safe, precise and efficient! Not to mention your projects always look fantastic and that’s the truth! Are those pine or hardwood that you’re working with? I think I’d fill that little gap with a shim or something to keep the bugs out. Just a thought.
@HiddenSpringFarmАй бұрын
Summer is a busy time for everyone, no worries. All this wood I’ve been milling is either maple, oak or poplar so all hardwoods. This mill will be such a great investment in the long run.

Plum…. I have only heard you and one other person say that when using a level to make sure things are level and square… come to think of it, he is from way up north too, the upper peninsula of Michigan … down here in the "south" we say "square." The first time I heard this guy say "plum" I couldn't figure out what the heck he was talking about… but he kept saying it and it dawned on me that he must mean "square." So, I’m guessing that "plum" is a northern thing…
@HiddenSpringFarmАй бұрын
Square means the corners are 90 degrees, level is horizontal level and plumb is vertical level 😉
@ZippedUpKitzАй бұрын
@@HiddenSpringFarm level and square is what we say… I literally have never heard "plum" until I started watching a bushcrafter named Dave Whipple on his channel, BushRadical… he builds cabins and sheds and all sorts of things on properties he buys up there in the upper peninsula of Michigan and he has properties in Alaska as well…. I honestly thought the whole "plum" thing was a northern saying since you are up there in Ottawa and he is in upper Michigan…. But hey, you "learned me" something new!! Where did "plum" come from anyway? I mean, I hear "plum" and I’m looking for fruit! lol

@HiddenSpringFarmАй бұрын
I’m nervous too sometimes but lifting the beams I’m inside the excavator so there’s no danger there. I suppose I could hurt myself Lifting the posts but I wouldn’t push myself to the max as even I have limits. Although an accident could happen at any time I at least lessen the risk. Appreciate the comment 😉
