Nice to see that there in America there is a grade crew. Here in Spain, as a motograder operator, you and your machine are the whole grade crew. You usually have the worst labourer of the construction site to discover the stakes and you will lucky if he speaks your languaje.
@onlyamillionmistakesvernky79373 ай бұрын
Hi Aberto, nice to hear from Spain. The grade crew is a very important part of street building. Most of the world, including "Standard General" are gradually transitioning to GPS grading. The grade crews will get smaller, and smaller. Thanks for the input, I hope you don't get too lonely on the jobsite.

A CLOUDY DAY....GRADER SHOULD HAVE THE WHITE LIGHTS ON.......

May I ask you. We have a blend we want to grade in gravel road but it has core stone mixed. Would the grader be able to spread and remove the core stone from the blend? I've learned a lot from you and other guys on how to operate. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
@onlyamillionmistakesvernky7937Ай бұрын
If you have mix of different size gravel, there is not much you can do with the grader to help the problem. I would suggest using a "drum packer" after you lay the gravel out. The drum will push in the larger stones. Good luck on your project.

Im pretty new with grader,working on cat 160H for 3 years,and my grader blade is in terrible condition,plate never changed for 20 years,cylinders almost all leaking oil,no parking brake,and lots of other things...im wondering how much often do u guys change your blade plates and when u decide its broke and useless,and snyone can solve why my psrking brake dont work,its leaking air all the time
@onlyamillionmistakesvernky79374 ай бұрын
A 160H is a nice machine, if they are well maintained. When you say "plate" I assume you are referring to "blade slides" I replace my blade slides (brass) every 3 months. If you have a constant air leak, it will eventually take out your compressor. Thanks for watching.

@@onlyamillionmistakesvernky7937 it leaks all the time,it's almost a year and half and I work without parking brake,and got lots of problems because I always have to find a secure spot to park my motor grader,and I have to pull down mine blade and it's bad for hydraulics and lots of other stuff....I didn't mean on blade slides I mean bottom of grader blade...do u change that or u put it somewhere on asphalt and try to fix curves on blade?

Little trick I learned if you put a boot on and you roll your blade back all the way your boot can ride right on the lip of the curb and you'll be able to stuff your curb perfectly to the lip without getting any Rock on the top of your curb then you just hit it with your roller usually it beats down about 17 hundredths.

Lol your comment about if the trucks all come in at one time, WE all know the drivers can only run in packs together 😂. At least in the states they do, kills me when you see them all coming and going together.. like women to the restroom

It sounds like you have seen a few things in life. The restroom analogy is interesting, there may be something to it.

Its not just in the states, our turbanned drivers in Canada do the same usually half hr earlier than expected or at coffee time, if they are booked for 7 am and show up at 630 am i make them wait. Piss on them, do what you are told or go home.

This is a dumb way to put gravel down. Should use a large dozer with a spreader box. Gravel would be just about on exact grade and only require final finish grading.
