Thank You Alex. I've had a rough Thanksgiving with my guitarist brother and his arrogance about his understanding of the guitar compared to the rest of the world, and your videos have helped me ask him if the fret up in a d minor cage style would get him where he wanted to be. More of an X thing like Ribot, and so on has tremendously helped our relationship.

I actually like just a little hair on even when I try to play some jazz. Sometimes I think I hear just a tinge of gain in the old jazz recordings from people like Wes and others. This is something I have recently been playing with.
@AlexFarranGuitarАй бұрын
I’m with you on that Peter. Charlie Christian always ran his amp into slight overdrive so I always do the same with those sorts of lessons. Never been keen on the overly clean and clinical jazz tones.
@petertiffany8096Ай бұрын
@@AlexFarranGuitar Charlie Christian is the one I first heard it on, and then have noticed it on others too. It really puzzled me at first how to get that sound and then eventually I accidentally stumbled onto it.

hi Alex, another great insight in the theory and application of this topic, I am learning more in 1 week than in the years I used to play guitar without any sense direction. ( this was pre youtube off course ) . you mentioned the song : I'll see you in my dreams . any chance on taking on a lesson in depth for that beautifull and interesting song? It is something that is cut out for you and your many followers , ? anyway , I'm always looking out for the next lesson. many thanks and greetings from belgium.

Hi Alex! Are all these alternative triad fingerings included in the lesson material or should I refer to the triads lesson? Thanks!

Hey buddy, the materials for this one contain the piece itself and the various sound files. As you say, best to check out the triads and three vote voicings lesson, as well as that latest triads lesson I put out a few weeks ago for deeper materials regarding the particular triad shapes 👍🏻

Do you think the minor 4 has a stronger pull to the 1 because, e.g. in C the Ab and the F of the Fm chord are only moving a semitone to resolve back to the C.

Another great guitar video. Thanks Alex! Have you thought doing a little tribute to Vic Flick? The James Bond guitar guy. Just thought of him being old school, British and having that classic guitar tone and style that you know so well. He did so much more than the James Bond theme but wondered if you'd explore him and his era of guitar styles and sounds.

@@AlexFarranGuitar Cool thanks Alex. I think most of us aren't familiar with him, only the famous James Bond guitar riff he did. But that riff is so iconic. He died recently and it came out that he also worked with The Beatles, Tom Jones, Dusty Springfield, Nancy Sinatra to name a few. I guess another one of those amazing faceless names behind the scenes of well known songs. Love your channel. So good!

Maestro, do you have a lesson on how to go about and practise mapping out the arpeggios that you showed around 11 mins in? ❤❤
@AlexFarranGuitarАй бұрын
Hey buddy, the tricky thing is that I cover those arpeggios in quite a few lessons, some in more depth than others and to be totally honest, I can't remember which ones went deep into it! 🤦🏻♂️ I'd recommend watching my "Americana Soul" lead study, my "Douce Ambiance" solo lesson, and perhaps my "Mixolydian Blues" study.
