The meme about “Polish colonies in Brazil” is incredibly wrong but also accidentally true First the colonies were apart of Courland, a German run duchy in Latvia which was a vassal of Poland, it’s colony was in the Caribbean not Brazil, and it was made of many people, Dutch Latvians poles etc More interestingly there was a large (still is) Polish community in Brazil, with Poland purchasing lands for settlers in Brazil(in the interwar period), Brazil seriously thought Poland was going to annex the lands as well

To those wondering The life during 1300s meme is about the black death period, Polan was basically unaffected by the bubonic plague for 2 reasons: it had good hygiene, with public roman styled bath-houses being popular at the time, and it closed it's borders to stop the spread of pestilence, thus it's the only happy one while the rest of YouRope is having a bad time.

(0:46) Heavy water is water with an extra neutron. Heavy water was (And still is!) essential to making many types of bombs*. The Norwegian power plant had found heavy water as a by-product, and Hilter was drawn in by it. Therefore, the allied troops sent in a few Norwegian people to bomb the tanks the heavy water was being stored in, just so the USA could create the Uranium Atomic Bomb (a.k.a. Little Boy) and the Plutonium Atomic Bomb (a.k.a. Fat Man). Little Boy was dropped on Hiroshima, and used 132 pounds (Okay Metrics, 60 Kilos.) of Uranium. Fat Man, on the other hand, used only 13.7 pounds (6.2 Kg) of Plutonium, and was dropped on Nagasaki. Fat Man finished the war with a small amount of Plutonium, and it comes to show how powerful Plutonium is. (If Plutonium was not extremely toxic and radioactive, it would feel warm to the touch because of its constant activity.) *Heavy water (Deuterium oxide) is made into Deuterium, then it is bombarded with with Uranium-238 to make Neptunium-238. Neptunium-238 is then left to decay into Plutonium-238, which would be used for bombs, power for spacecraft, partially powering breeder reactors, powering cities and some countries, etc. If you made it to here, thank you very much. I am going into middle school in August 2021 and I knew about 3/4 of this. This took me about 30 minutes to type and look up in my trusty little Periodic Table of the Elements book. If this was interesting and/or informational to you, please like this comment and comment to me if anything needs to be corrected. Thank you, and stay safe out there!

Normandy is made of huge cliffs so it's actually pretty hard to invade there with bunkers on top of the cliffs decimating you. Except the number of troops there never were enough to cover it efficiently. It's a good strategic move, whereas if you invaded by the the south east there were mines and other defensive tools way more than on the north. Bunkers are still there on the beaches facing the Atlantic in France, mines too sometimes.

Fun fact: The same deal that gave Pepsi bunch of Soviet battleships also gave South Korea bunch of Soviet tanks in 1993 because that's how Russia repaid the debts incurred to them during the cold war. The SK public was super against the idea because all the tanks that the Soviets exported to the other countries were crappy, but they then realized that the tanks they received were the good shit that the Soviets used themselves. Right now, South Korea is the only country where they have both the American and Soviet tanks in their army.

so, you were asking if gargoyles were ever normal. The things people normally call gargoyles are actually called grotesques, and they are meant to be scary monsters to ward off evil or something. Actual gargoyles are literally just medieval gutters for making the water shoot out away from the wall instead of ruining the mortar by running down the face of the wall, and most of them were either plain, or has simple animal heads and stuff carved on them. Then Gothic architecture decided to make grotesques that were also gargoyles, and so now people thing all gargoyles are grotesques, when most of them aren't. All you need for something to be a gargoyle is for it to be a pipe or channel sticking out from a wall to keep the roof water off of it, so long as that pipe doesn't lead all the way down to the ground, because then it's a downspout.
