Used to live on Shoreham beach in the 70s always fished up by the fishermen's hut opposite the church, coming down to have a look at the old place on 12th May, first time back in 40 + yes.look forward to seeing more of your videos.

They should be around in numbers for a bit yet. The autumn run should be good when they’ve fattened up!

From an ex Sea Angler magazine Casting instructor may i say you cast beautifully. Following the tip of the rod down when lead falls out the sky, which can be vital when a couple of extra yards are needed to reach the fish.. Its amazing how much resistance you can get from the line running thru the rod rings.. Well done..
@ClickBaitGem6 ай бұрын
Wow, thank you! I have worked hard on my casting over the years. After being taught an over head thump by my dad, I spent much of the 80s casting in a field near my house with my mate, trying to see who could get the furthest! I still spend time practising down the beach. I used to avidly read Sea Angler articles on casting techniques and, from that, learnt OTG casting. I still haven’t definitively hit the magical 200 yards, with my best over grass being 186 yards. However on the beach I did four consecutive casts in the early 1990s where I emptied an Abu 6500 fully loaded with 0.35 line. No doubt in my mind those were the best four casts I ever did, using my Zziplex 2500m (felt the butt properly bend!) pendulum casting.

Nice to see some one not moaning about kayaking or swimming the beach is for everyone not just fishing but fantastic session looks like you have the ability to put a bait a long way
@ClickBaitGem7 ай бұрын
Absolutely. We all want to enjoy the beach although I think sometimes other beach users need a bit more educating about the dangers fishing can pose to them (eg swimmers who head out to sea right next to you risking getting tangled in your line). As for my casting I have worked on it lol. Even when I was 12 I’d be casting in the field over the road from where I grew up.

Up and over rigs work well for the plaice where you fished, I caught my best at 42 there. 3 ft snood
@ClickBaitGem6 ай бұрын
Nice fish, 42cm. I do like using up and over rigs also, totally agree that they can work well! I had my best plaice down Seaford a few years back on a 1 hook up and over rig. Came in at 48cm. The last two years I have not found the plaice fishing quite so good down Seaford as it was previously.

I was surprised to see you didn't unhook the 2 plaice before putting them in the bucket of water. Also, what is May Rot please? Never heard of this before. Enjoyed your video and have subscribed. Barry.
@ClickBaitGem6 ай бұрын
I pop them in the bucket first for two reasons. They get a bit of recovery time before I take them back out of water to get the hook out. Also, I can get my next baits out in the water more quickly, thus putting more fish on the beach. You'll see this method used in a lot of catch and release matches. I hope that helps! Also May rot is an algae bloom that occurs roughly through May each year. It sticks to the line and makes the water thick. Consequently, the tidal pull is much increased making it harder to hold bottom and heavy reeling in. Thanks for watching and the sub - most appreciated, and super pleased you enjoyed the video.

Thanks for your lovely feedback. I used to lecture at Uni so I got used to explaining what I was doing it whilst I did it! Must’ve rubbed off on to my fishing lol. I try to think about want people might learn from watching my videos and get some of that across. So great to hear your kind words Buck Rogers 😍. As for the reels, the noisy one has dry ceramics in it. But to be fair they are quite well used now… 🤪😄

@@ClickBaitGem Your Videos are a joy to watch from start to end as many i skip forward on them but watched all of yours so you must be doing something right! Way too many just think about im making content rather than whats actually in it and forget about people watching want to know more "Rather than Hey i'm here(Yes we know your here!)then might show you some bits then miss the most important parts out esp like what rigs your using/tackle/rods/reels and so on plus tips. Plus say with likes of plaicing there's unhooking tricks many don't know which also saves unwanted fish kills! as they do like to scoff!. Leads you find better as often want a slow trundle in tide.placing rod rest so shows bites best.And so much more. Myself i design and make rigs along with many tripod mods inc a triple head that is remote so fixes to uses one wing nut n bolt rather than more bits and left with plain middle leg when packed away. Created my version of Bagnall bars on heavy mono with a plain swivel on main line instead of cascade so can fish heavy! and others made wishbone all tucked in streamlined.
@ClickBaitGem7 ай бұрын
Totally. And it’s important we as anglers try to protect the fish we have left! Down to every last whiting. After all they are food for other species at the end of the day and part of the eco system.
