What I love about Plaid is that they sometimes trick you by making you think they're more inoffensive than their other Warp colleagues (Aphex Twin, Autechre, Squarepusher, etc.), as they're often more melodic and direct in comparison, but they can also get pretty technical and glitchy like Autechre if they want, which shows why they're IDM legends.

@@sweetwheatsy omg I said this??? o_o woooow. Ok so what i said isnt remotely true anymore. I said this when I was a mere normie listening to normie shit. But then I kept listening to plaid and something happened... a deeper consciousness opened and then I started to understand what plaid really was. I am now the biggest plaid fan spreading my testimony of my conversion to other normies out there stuck listening to VEVO. Plaid is my #1 favorite music and I am now an IDM junkie. Hawkmoth converted me. ;)

I love this entire album very deeply. A friend introduced me to the band around 2004 or so, but at first, like.. for some reason, the music on this album was too complex for my smooth brain at first. I recognized it was really good music, but I didn't understand it, I couldn't digest it. It took me awhile, but eventually I came to understand them. At first, the only song I really understood on this album was "Manyme". Eyen, and most of the other big tracks like Squance, Zala, Oh be Doo, Sincetta, etc....they were just too much for me at the time. I was too new to the sound. I listened to electronica of course...but nothing even remotely close to this.

@@aBanabis Yea i didn't like them at first either because it sounded too random complex and chaotic with no rhyme or reason for the directions the songs and melodies took. but after listening to them for a while it was like a light switch going off.. i understood. none of it was random every sound every texture had a purpose and the beauty of their songs and melodies finally reveled themselves to me.

It was so alien, there wasn't anything I listened to that was even remotely close.. I suppose it was my first exposure to "IDM" besides Halcyon On and On by Orbital.
