These are my favourite ring of 8. They sound amazing!

They are very good! Although I personally prefer Clerkenwell (for sound), these do go a lot nicer though! I think the other two weights of this weight worth visiting are Hinckley (Leics) and Skipton in Craven (Yorkshire). Gotta love a good, meaty octave :-)

Simon what a fantastic sounding peal. I do like heavy 8s or back 8s on 12. You have to love gillet bells. Shame that Bow got bombed. I rang a mid day quarter of Stedman Cinques at St Mary's Cathedral Sydney and I was on the tenor and it was on the warm side for Sydney at 36C and I was soaked in sweat . Some of our towers need air con.

I’ve rung here. They sound lovely and go very well apart from the 7th which I found strange, quite oddstruck and tricky to handle at backstroke.

They Hum So Much, is it because of the spire.
@simonbellringer4 жыл бұрын
Partly yes, and partly that they are really good bells that sing anyway - the internal acoustics are also excellent which means they sound great in the ringing room (again, I think the spire has a part to play in that)

Were these the bells from Cowley St Luke? I always wondered as I grew up near that church

are the old and new bells that different? To my ears they sound pretty much uniform.

Matthew Higby Not that different and certainly they work as an 8. I could certainly pick out the old and new bells though!

a question if i may ,,,,, did(has) change ringing and others made it outside uk? thanks .
@simonbellringer6 жыл бұрын
Hello - yes it has! Mostly, bells outside the UK are in the old colonial states - there are rings in America, Australia, New Zealand, as well as some in Canada and South Africa. There are also rings in Dordrecht (Holland), Ypres (Belgium), and possibly soon to be in France. Hope this helps :)
