Pretty bad economy for this day and age when I think about my 1984 Honda City which could beat a Falcon of the day to 80km/hr and use about half the fuel of the Yaris.

@Joye J I think it was only about 750kg which is why it performed so well, it was a long stroke engine with a compression ratio of about 11:1 and I believe this combined with the light weight was why it's best acceleration was achieved with lower revs than you would expect. I don't remember at what rpm it had maximum power but I'd guess it was lower than normal. I can remember back in 1985 a new large Audi wanted to have a race at some northern NSW town near Tenterfield where there were very mountainous roads. The Audi had absolutely no chance of keeping up until later on in the day when the roads became straight and flat. I think the Audis back in the day had very high gears to suite the autobahns.

I'm pretty sure this is more a Mazda car than a Toyota. Pretty sure the reliability will be affected.

Phillip Nunya I think the hatchbacks have Toyota engines and the sedans have Mazda engines

i just cant ... A car reviewer that drives AT , grabs the wheel like she is passing the driving test and she needs higher definition parking camera ... Look lady , first learn to drive and then complain for stupid things like hard plastic when you fondle the car in unnecessary places. One more thing , the car cant look more plain than you , facts !

they are way more reliable than any other make of car, I'm getting one as I have a ford focus that is constantly needing repairs and it only has 84,000 kilometers and have spend $3000 on it so far not including normal servicing. I can't wait to get a vanilla plain simple toyota yaris
