Fantastic great find and footage! Yes, that particular rare Bitis like many snakes evolve over millennia to take a peculiar color scheme nearly identical to their rocky (for instance granite specks) terrain probably via natural selection.

Right and disconnected mountainous species can actually be considered individual species over time with differing habits, prey items and toxicity of venom.
