My biggest decluttering achievement this year was to lose over 4 stone of hoarded body fat. I realised that my excess of stored body fat was not needed and was harmful to my health. It accumulated in the same way as excessive & unneeded things do, by regular indulgence in immediate gratification of taste buds, in the same way that shopping for unneeded items is immediately gratifying but ultimately bad for us. The results are the same, too much stuff, too much body fat. Hoarding is hoarding. I've stuck to low-carb gluten-free eating strictly this whole year & have used much of the stored body energy to declutter my huge yard. The yard is 80% done now, so next year's plan is to stay with healthy eating & keep going with the yard and sheds. I'm optimistic for the future for the first time in years.

In regard to the comment about verbal clutter, I tended to be very chatty as a kid. One day I was told that I had two ears and one mouth. That meant I was supposed to listen twice as much as I talked. I still think about that advice today and am more aware that other people also have good ideas and interesting things to say. I've also discovered that making eye contact, if possible, with the person who is talking, lets them know that I'm listening as well as helps me to listen to them. This especially works with my grandkids.

i remove 3 things from my office every day. sometimes it is putting it away or donate or trssh. it is very low difficulty- but after a week it adds up.

We just helped a neighbor move. She moved all her clutter covered in dust. I am encouraged to deal with anything that needs to go at the time and not let clutter grow roots and gather dust.

I love your idea of identifying categories of stuff in the garage. I think that is really going to help me. Thank you!

It's helped me inside, too, with the remaining 4 difficult categories: books, art supplies, clothes, and papers.

I have a storage unit on property. We are going to finish removing the stuff to donate , trash, give away. I worked hard to get it down to where it is. So much to be reminded of my life, my family,& loved ones. But we are doing a reset @ building 1 And the storage building ( after listening Declutter ing lessons on youtube, will clear it out with help tomorrow), to make room for something else.

First step - stop online shopping - if anything seems "a really good purchase" wait one month before getting it.

Great idea on the 'open drawer' for decluttering.. Also, the way the commentor mentioned how he manages photos by a date & referring back = is how I manage journal entries. I try to go back & read prior entries that were on 'today's date of the year' - at which point I edit what is no longer relevant. 😊

40 minutes into This Ed mentions pet pic’s are tricky… I do a video of family pets (when i visit friends / relatives.i am not a pet owner atm) Around 1-2mins long Then I view in photo’s section. the video -on pause -on my phone. I slide my finger across the video strip at the bottom of it, to move along video frames slowly… often I can do a screenshot of the paused video display to capture the most radiant moment in the pets face out of the duration of the video. (Keep screen shot /delete short videos too)

Why does text say you are talking about bras and tits? 🤔🤣
@TheClutterFairy11 ай бұрын
I’m not sure! I certainly don’t remember that - let us look into it!
@TheClutterFairy11 ай бұрын
(Ed replying:) It says that because KZbin’s automatic subtitles aren’t especially accurate. “Bra” was how it understood “brava,” and “tit” was apparently all it got when I said “tittle.”
