I would like to know the size of each farm as well as how many acres of it are in food plots? Killing big deer is awesome, but the other 364 days of what it takes to do it is what is all about, and I promise you if I had the time and the resources I would try my best to copy you all. Thanks for the series, I am really looking forward to it!

I'm excited about this series...I love these types of shows...I do have a question what do you recommend planting in south Georgia I've noticed on some of the clover bags the clover isn't recommended for down here...or am I looking at it wrong...I'm new to plots an trying to learn...thanks for your help.

This will be awesome to get more knowledge to be successful! Question on clover/alfalfa. Is it better to mow it than spray for grasses/ broadleafs if needed or spray first than mow? Also should you only mow right before a timely rain or is that a wise tail? I’m trying to revamp a few clover plots that fizzled out last year. Thanks for your advice!!

Was wondering when you like to plant your wheat as a cover crop. Like if you plant it the same time as you would normally if you were just going to farm it or if you throw it out the same time as the clover?
@cheeze8229 Жыл бұрын
I live in northern (orange army )wisconsin. Looking to move to south iowa in 4 to 6 years. Love watching you guys. Whitetail 365 for me too. Is there a reason why you use wheat instead of rye. And when do you plant your clover early fall with some wheat? And how many pounds of wheat do you use per acre of clover? TY
@LeeandTiffanyLakosky Жыл бұрын
Great question, Cheeze! I normally just say “wheat” for short so I’ve got to start being more specific. I used to use a mix of wheat, rye, oats and peas but I found in testing that the deer seemed to like winter triticale more than the rye so I started using that instead. I used that as my cover/fall food plots for years and now we made the Ani Logics “Amazing Grains” blend in the exact ratio that we found works the best and the deer like the most. So, all of my “wheat” fields are actually Ani-Logics Amazing Grains.

2:46 I’m trying to replicate your strategy on my farm 500 acres mixed ag, cover, hardwood w creek bottoms in Choctaw county ok. What are your thoughts on summer food plots? Does it reduce buck numbers by recruiting fawns and does to the prime fawnings areas w Ava food during the spring in summer. I’m on year three of managing the farms for quality deer and waterfowl. Any help is appreciated.
@cameronlee2781 Жыл бұрын
This is Awesome! This is a great idea because I’ve never seen a show like this. Quick question, I planted clover this spring to give the deer something for the summer, but I didn’t spray and kill the plot before. Should I spray arrest Max to kill back the weeds and wheat? It seems like you thought it would be better to keep them shaded through summer. I just didn’t want them to get choked out. What would you suggest? I’m in Alabama.
@LeeandTiffanyLakosky Жыл бұрын
The clover absolutely thrives in those shady, part sun environments where moisture is retained. You can use the arrest max to kill off any grasses in the plot, but you'll still be left with whatever weeds are in there. You didn't do any harm by not spraying before hand, you probably helped with germination, actually. I would recommend just mowing it if you can, but wait until the clover is established enough to fire right back up after the mow. It will most likely overtake a lot of what's mixed in once it's good and established and you release it. Great question!

Sorry i missed the premier tonight. Question i heard you only plant clover with the months that has the letter R in it is that true? Also do you feed the deer any protein pellets blended with shelled corn in the off season? If so what kind? Thanks. Thank you both for doing these type of videos for us. We really appreciate it. Hope the family is doing well.
@LeeandTiffanyLakosky Жыл бұрын
Hey Mark, that is true to some degree depending on geography. In the south, you can probably get away with planting clover in February, but im not sure I would try it in Wisconsin per say. The key is to utilize the soil moisture and those freeze/thaw cycles (where they apply). So, fall planting for us would be late August/Sept, covering with wheat, then March frost seeding in the spring to take advantage of the freeze/thaw. As for feeding, we do use a blend of corn, roasted soy beans and pellets from Ani-logics.
@markc2036 Жыл бұрын
@@LeeandTiffanyLakosky I'm sorry I forgot to mention I'm in South Carolina. So you prefer wheat over rye or oats in the fall? Thanks for such a quick response and we enjoy y'alls video. Look forward to next week's video.
