I have tried to educate myself about Medicare by going to several seminars and using the Medicare.gov website, but all of these videos made by Chris have been the most helpful by far!!!!!!

I have listened to several videos so far and even though I have not spoken or met Christopher personally, I trust him the most. I have spoken with other representatives of choices for Seniors but this gentleman tells/shows you everything. The truth is above cost; I may not be able to accept a certain plan but I need to know my consultant is speaking the truth from the heart. to make the right choice for me.With Christopher Westfall, I know that's the case!

Point of clarification since posting this video: An agent with specific Medicare billing/coding experience has posted the following and it applies here and I believe should accompany the video, specifically about the Co-payments, or lack thereof, in the specific instance I described of multiple trips to outpatient therapy. In order to clarify the record, here is his unedited quote: "Prior to 1/1/17, the PT evaluation codes were 97001-97004. Effective 1/1/17, the PT evaluation codes are 97161-97168. None of these codes are subject to the Plan N copay. The physician office visit evaluation codes that are subject to the Plan N copay cannot be billed by Physical Therapists. In rare cases, a physician will bill PT "incident to" an office visit. This occurs when the beneficiary is seen by both a physician and a physical therapist on the physician's staff during the same visit. The claim is filed with both the office visit evaluation (99201-99215) and PT code. The Plan N copay is applied to the office visit charge on the claim and should not surprise the beneficiary since they scheduled a "doctor's appointment" and not a "PT appointment". Follow-up PT sessions should not require a physician evaluation. The "possibility" of this occurring should not influence a person's Medigap decision."

This is so thorough and certainly most appreciated. I live in S Fl and am very happy that your lovely professional signed me up for plan N. This occurred right after I was 'snared unknowingly by a Very questionable agent from another company to sign me up for $349 monthly. Thank goodness zi watched one if your other seminars which alerted me and I quickly ended that farce. Again, thanks to you.

My husband is turning 65 on May 15, 2021. I am one year behind him. We start getting phone calls literally at 7-8:00 am and on into the night. From places all over the US. I even get the roto calls that wait for you to pick up and there is no answer. They then know you are home and they call constantly. I have had to unplug my phone or I get 20 calls a day. YOU have been the only honest one out there. God Bless you for doing these videos for us. Anything the government touches gets confusing and full of lies. Then there is you. Thank you Mr. Westfall.

Please clarify ... at 6:55 into the clip, you mentioned the patient would be responsible for 15% of the excess charge. I was under the impression that the patient would be responsible for up to 15% of the amount over what Medicare would cover for the procedure.

I must say, as a medicare broker I love plan F because everyone who is on one is easy to convert to a plan G. I have recommended a plan N a few times where there are no competitive plan G and the client goes to the doctor 4 or less times a year, but generally I feel plan G is the way to go.

Definitely Plan N is a great value in Ohio!
@barnabyjara47513 жыл бұрын
CONNECTICUT: 1-Excess charges are illegal. 2-Cheapest plan G = 206, cheapest plan N = 169. Difference = 37 dollars or almost 40 dollars. CONCLUSION: You would have to go to the doctor every other week for the whole year (or 24 times in a year) to make up the difference (at $20 co-payment). NOBODY goes to the doctor that often. SO THE WINNER IS: plan N. Period. Next question please.

Is there anything actually printed on paper for those of us not good with a computer that shows EVERYTHING covered ( including all the fine print) and not covered?
@roberts11593 жыл бұрын
The Medicare booklet that you should be receiving each year if you are already 65 years old would be a start. The plans rules are dictated by Medicare not the insurance companies. So say plan N from company X would be equal to company Y for any given plan letter designation.

one question, if you in California, are are already on Medicare paying 250+ for part G, and you move to north carolina, do your part G costs go down?
@ChristopherWestfall7 жыл бұрын
It's PLAN G and no, there is no automatic rate reduction. You must first apply for a Plan G Medicare Supplement based on North Carolina rates, which are MUCH better than California. I am licensed in both states and would be happy to help make that transition. 1-800-729-9590 - Chris Westfall

Hi Chris, I am going to be Volunteering with SHIP and I've been watching your videos. If a client signs up for plan G in 2018 is that person able to switch to plan F the next annual enrollment and will they keep or lose their guaranteed issue rights?
@ChristopherWestfall7 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the delay. I often don't see KZbin comments. The Annual Enrollment/Election Period (AEP) has nothing at all to do with Medicare Supplements, also known as Medigap. That period is only for Medicare Advantage and Part D drug plans. There are no more guaranteed issue rights, once on a plan, except in certain states like CA, MO, OR, WA, NY, CT.

Thank you for this video it was very informative. However, I am confused, you referred to "... the looming mystery of the excess charge on plan N". I don't see the mystery at all. I went to Medicare.gov and found my doctors and they all took what medicare paid them as payment in full. In fact, I only saw one doctor, that didn't. I live in Indiana, am in good health, and turned 65 in October. I signed up for a plan N. After watching this video(two times) I am worried I screwed up. My agent said plan G and N were both good plans but urged me to stay away from plan F. Did I make a mistake with choosing Plan N? Can I switch if I remain in good health. I initially wanted a plan D but it was not offered by many companies.
@ChristopherWestfall6 жыл бұрын
I am confused by your confusion. You did the research, you know your doctors accept Medicare Assignment, so there is no confusion in my mind that Plan N is right for you. There should be none in yours, either.
@ginkaas6 жыл бұрын
@@ChristopherWestfall I'm glad to hear that. Let me clear up your confusion- the video clearly indicates Plan G is better so I began to doubt my decision as medicare does not lie within my expertise. However, based your response I fell much better. Than you.
@9929kingfish5 жыл бұрын
ginkaas I here %93 of Doctors in US accept assignment, so getting an excess charge would be rare.
@ginkaas6 жыл бұрын
What about Plan D? It looks like it occupies the middle ground between Plan G and N. Is Plan D a good deal? I was told 96% of doctors accept assignment and those that don't can be avoided by identifying them on Medicare.gov. Since Plan D covers co- payments it seems like a better plan than N unless it is not priced competitively . I hear a lot about Plan G and Plan N but not so much Plan D. What's the problem with Plan D?
@ChristopherWestfall6 жыл бұрын
The problem with Plan D is that when G changed in 2010 to cover 100% of Excess Charges, all of the carriers focused on launching competitive Plan G rates. Plan D has been all but forgotten. Aetna tried to launch a come back for Plan D last year but it fell flat. I believe we will see a competitive resurgence of Plan D in preparation for 2020 when Plan F and C can no longer be sold to newly-eligible Medicare beneficiaries. - Chris

Thank you so much! Your videos are so informative. Based on your response plan G is looking better and better.

What is maximum out of pocket yearly charges for plan N or Plan G?
@ChristopherWestfall5 жыл бұрын
There is no Maximum Out of Pocket when everything is covered. I guess, the Part B deductible would be it on Plan G, as there are no co-pays. So, $185 for 2019 and (potentially) $197 in 2020 would be it.

@@ChristopherWestfall I will be starting medicare june 2020. I'm concerned with a catastrophic event. I travel so I want original medicare with some gap coverage. I don't want a huge bill in case the big one happens. Do you handle insurance for Iowa or Missouri.?
@yc89275 жыл бұрын
I’m in California. All my doctors do not accept Medicare assignment. I visit my primary care doctor 3-5 times a year, see specialist 4-5 times a year. I go to emergency room once every 2-3 years. No outpatient surgery so far in last 5 years. Is N better than F? Your input will be greatly appreciated
@martinjimenez93436 жыл бұрын
Third party insurance is the main problem in healthcare? Hides price signalling. Rarely see doctors having sales, posting prices clearly... Unless they are in direct primary care, retail care (optional/cosmetic surgery, LASIK, vasectomies, etc...go with catastrophic coverage, if you can afford it? What is a catastrophic financially for most Americans? 10k? 30k? 100k?
@ChristopherWestfall6 жыл бұрын
Catastrophic care is great for those who are 1) Healthy 2) Not a senior 3) Have a savings account. For the rest of us, there is insurance.

I have a plan G, thank you for the data necessary to make an informed decision. What happens though, if I find a better priced plan G than the one I have during open enrollment? Do I have to prequalify to switch to another company with plan G?
@ChristopherWestfall7 жыл бұрын
Yes, from this point forward, you have to qualify based on good health. That's why it is very important to make the most informed decision you can from the very beginning. It is also WHY I am completely independent and represent almost every company in the country, so that we can maintain that independence. Call us for a second opinion, if you'd like. It doesn't cost anything but NOT calling could cost a lot. 1-800-729-9590 - Chris Westfall Thanks for writing.

Very interesting. On plan N does one pay $20 more during the deductible as well or only after satisfying the deductible? Do you pay the MD at the time of service or after the billing goes through the supplemental insurance? Thanks.
@ChristopherWestfall7 жыл бұрын
Yes, the co-payment is supposed to be 20% of the office visit cost and many times amounts to only $13 or so. But yes, it is in addition to the Medicare Part B deductible. The deductible is not with the doctor or insurance company, it is with Medicare and still needs to be satisfied. Depending on the billing policy of the doctor's office (and their familiarity with Plan N), they will most often just bill Medicare and wait until the claims are paid and then balance bill you when those responses come back. - Chris 1-800-729-9590 if I can help.

Is there any list out there regarding Medicare guidelines that specify what constitutes a ”Dr. Visit" ? Per Aetna rep Physical Therapy visits are subject to $20 copay. It's difficult to figure out if plan N is good for you when the terminology is so vague. And what about x-ray, MRI or labs done at an outpatient facility?
