I had floaters happen suddenly at age 58 or so. As you said, no one tells you this stuff is going to happen. I had a very hard time ignoring them for quite a while-like maybe a few months. My physician was compassionate but matter of fact, I was going to have to learn to live with it. I decided to try to “look past” them and mentally concentrate on whatever I wanted to see. I’ve heard what ever you focus on grows! I am now 70 and I really don’t see the floaters anymore unless I concentrate on them. You WILL. get better. I think COVID hitting you at the same time has made you discouraged. Make a date with yourself to skim through this video is a couple of months. I bet you will be amazed at the progress you have made. Keep going and take courage, Mary Ellen. It’s not as dark as it seems right now. Praying for you!

I have struggled with depression since my 21 year old son disappeared eleven years ago and I so identify with your disappointment with you are doing really good and then all of a sudden everything goes wrong! It’s so easy to sink into the darkness. Give yourself some grace. Take a lot of time to love on yourself. The lighting is absolutely fine. In fact, I wouldn’t have noticed and still really can’t tell a difference. Give your eyes a chance to heal, this is new. It’s going to be okay. You are a warrior. Hold onto that. You’ve been through far worse and made it through. ❤ YOU have been through far worse! You are entitled to feel your feelings.

Love, I am so sorry you're experiencing this health issue; you've been on such a roller coaster. I would watch you build a spread in the dark; you do what's best for your health. If a dimmer room is best for your eyes, love, you sit in a dimmer room and bring us your beautiful art. Do not worry about offending others by telling us what your struggles are, we're here for you, and we will listen to you unpack. Sending you all the love your hand and heart can hold.

I developed a very large floater when I was recovering from cataract surgery, I blamed myself because I thought I caused it because I bent over. My floater looked like a spider web in the beginning and it really made me depressed. But I have some really good eye doctors and they did everything to make sure that it wasn’t a retinal tear. This all happened in January and it has gotten a lot better! Our brains are truly amazing and you do not notice them over time! Your videos helped me during that time and you encouraged me to continue with planning and stay positive. It does get better! Hang in there!

So sorry you're experiencing this, Mary Ellen! I've never experienced eye floaters but I have a head injury right now and I experience extreme light sensitivity with other eye issues as well that have impacted my daily life. I have found that using prescription sunglasses even in my house for projects that need extra lighting have been a saving grace. I definitely have to wear dark glasses whenever I go outside (even on overcast days) or if I go into a store. While my situation isn't the same as yours I thought maybe this might help you be able to still be able to exist in a "well-lit" world that makes you happy as you described until your brain adjusts to your new eye structure. In the meantime, go easy on yourself, breathe, and hang in there. Remember you have overcome far worse. You are a strong woman. You got this! By the way, the spread turned out great as always!

I’ve had floaters in one eye for more than 30 years and yes you do become use to them. They’re just a blurry spot that I truly look thru. They have glasses that are made for computer use which block some of the light but let you still see the colors etc that might help. I have a pair with amber lenses that truly help. Good luck and stay positive, you will adjust and life will go one ❤

The same thing happened to me on the way to my son’s wedding weekend. It started by seeing such a bright flash that I thought it was fireworks! I had so many floaters. They disappeared within a couple of weeks. Apparently they are still there but I don’t t see them anymore unless I look up at a sky with no clouds and concentrate on trying to find them. The brain is an amazing thing. You will adjust. That was 8 years ago. It never happened with my other eye. I hope you recover very soon!❤

It’s crazy and crappy but listen, we are strong women and we can handle anything life brings and be better for it. I feel we are on the same journey with our eyes. I had this happen to me 3 weeks ago in my right eye. I have a 'sheet' floater in my eye that blurs my vision about 30% of the time and a very dark floater. My ophthalmologist told me the same thing, it's just aging. You will adjust. And be glad it's not a retinal tear/detachment. It's HARD. I work on computers and do visual media as a job. It is very distracting. I feel my brain is adjusting to it, but it's the emotional part that is the struggle. I have to just 'blink' through it, and not get frustrated/angry/upset because that only exacerbates it. I am so sorry you are going through this as well. Here's to our brains quickly adapting. ❤

You have been through so much. I’m sending good vibes and all the healing energy to you. I had floaters that suddenly appeared when I was in my fifties. I was extremely concerned because I taught high school English, so, as in your situation, decent vision was necessary for me to do my job! My doctor said the floaters would probably go away. (He did put me on blood pressure medication.) Thank God, that is exactly what happened! I am now retired, almost 69, and they are still gone! I am going to pray that the same thing happens for you.
@ellenschlagel8030Ай бұрын
I'm so sorry to hear you are dealing with floaters, but happy to hear it was not a retinal tear! I have had floaters for the past several years, and you will get used to them and be able to look past them. Sometimes I will sit and shake my head and watch them bounce around just to entertain myself!🤣 My husband had a retinal tear and fortunately had one of the best retinal doctors in the country! After unsuccessfully trying a gas bubble to hold the tear in place he had a buckle placed around his eyeball to increase the pressure on the retina and hold it in place. Worst part of it was he had to hold his head in a certain position for 2 weeks! The lighting on your video was just fine. Do what you have to do to adjust to the floaters, and if that means shorter, dimmer, less frequent videos, then make it what YOU need to do! We can always go back and watch older videos to get our regular dose of your creative layouts! 🙏🙏🙏

I had that happen last year and it freaked me out as well. I did wait until the next morning and called the eye dr. They looked like a spider web over my eye. I don’t notice them much at all anymore. When I do I’m usually at work with fluorescent lighting while looking at my computer. Once I found out it was normal, I wasn’t as freaked out. You will adjust to them, but it may take a few weeks. At least they don’t hurt, which I was thankful for. Yes, your brain will adjust. I was skeptical of that as well. Covid may be enhancing it as well, so once you’re recovered from that, it may get better as well. I had a follow up as well and the tear isn’t common. My dr didn’t say anything about not lifting or bending, but I also don’t work out or have children to carry around. I hope you feel better soon. You’ll be back to normal in no time. 😊

oh MaryEllen! I'm so sorry to hear about your PVD. Yes, I had that. It was a bunch of years ago now, I think I might have also been 57. I had been staring at Excel spreadsheets all day. When I left my building it was dark outside, and I thought the lobby lights were a bit bright. A few years before, I had vitamin B6 toxicity and had terrible light sensitivity, and night driving was a challenge. Then I thought it was the streetlights. When I got off at my freeway exit, there were no streetlights and I was still seeing a very bright light (where a streetlight might be). Off to the doc for me. They said 'oh it's a vitrous detachment.' I thought, well, yay, it's not a retinal detachment. I said 'what do we do?' and they wree like 'wait.' I do take a supplement of hyaluronic acid - it helps some people with floaters. It did resolve and rather quickly. Pain/struggle Olympics serves no one, you don't have to apologize because it's hard for you (just because other folks have different struggles). I have every confidence you will get your lovely vision back.

I was sick (felt like covid, which I had before, but was testing negative) most of April and May with an ugly cough. Early may I had the same thing happen. It was hard to do anything without my eye getting dry and irritated. I have bad astigmatism, so it made it hard to see clearly. I was told the same thing, my brain had to register that it was normal. It took about 2 weeks before my brain accepted the floaters. I still see them now and then. It does get better. Praying for you Mary Ellen. 🙏 ❤🤗

I have also had the surgery on one eye where they remove the vitrius jelly from the eye and replace it with a synthetic jelly that way it doesn’t know to pull on the floaters or blood vessels. Rest assured my surgery worked and healing time was 2 weeks. this happened back in 2012 when I was 27! I had that vitreous detachment in my right eye years ago (in my late 30s). I’m 52 now and it still hasn’t happened yet to my left eye. You need to be careful of a retinal detachment because the vitreous can pull on the retina while it’s detaching. If you see a blacked out “curtain” in your vision you need to get to an ophthalmologist ASAP. I still see floaters but not nearly as bad as it was. You will get used to them. I think some of the tiny ones float down to the bottom of your eye and just stay there. I know how annoying it is but just give it time. It will get better. I only notice mine in bright light now on occasion.

I have a different eye condition, so your mileage may vary. I have scarring on my retina from histoplasmosis, and I've had multiple retinal bleeds from it. Right at a year ago, I had another one, but my retinologist had retired so I had to wait 9 weeks to get into a new one. I have permanent scarring and distortion on my retina, but I have adjusted to it. I am very pleased that 90% of the time I don't notice it in day to day life. It's worse when I'm tired, and I sometimes have to close that eye when I'm doing very detailed small things. It was terrifying to spend those 9 weeks with my vision getting worse and worse so I'm sure that sudden change was also terrible. I hope you have rapid improvement in your eye issues. Mine took several months to adjust, but I also had to wait for the blood to re-absorb as much as it was going to. Please share the things that are on your heart, people care about you and want to be supportive.

It's like a filter on my vision with little colorful blinking pixels, a television static if you will, and I can't turn off. If I don't think about it I don't "see it", I hope you can get used to that or better yet that it'll go away. Sending you all the good vibes.

I have some floaters in my right eye. At first I thought they were bits of mascara and i see them mostly in super bright light. No kidding it’s weird but I have learned to ignore them for the most part. It makes Photoshop fun - I’m not sure if what I see is on the photo or in my eye, so I have to trust. But they aren’t horrible and I’ve learned to get around it. It’s going to be ok, it’s weird but not horrible.

I’m 61 and have had floaters off and on for several years. My eye doc told me they will be worse when the eye doesn’t have anything to “concentrate on”, so they are worse outdoors on a clear sunny day when I look at the sky (hope that makes sense). I’ve gotten used to them and they are rarely bothersome anymore. Hope that helps. Always enjoy your videos!

This happened to me during the pandemic! I thought it must be a migraine as I saw all these black floaters like spiderwebs. Like you I found out it’s quite common for people in their 50’s but I never heard of it and was pretty scared! A week after it happened in one eye it happened in my other eye! 😮 I was relieved their was no tearing (rhyming with scaring) as that can happen. I too was pretty devastated as I was told it shouldn’t be noticeable after a while but having things floating across your vision all the time is horrible. I also stopped driving at night as I would get flashes when I turned my head at junctions! It’s particularly noticeable when there is bright light. The good news is that I don’t notice it like I used to now though it did take a while and it doesn’t go - you just notice it less. Hang in there! It gets better. I know how upsetting it is but I filmed KZbin videos with no issues so I’m sure you’ll be okay with filming soon once you’re more used to it.

I’ve had the vitreal detachment in both eyes with the floaters and flashes of light. My eye doctor said it was age related and common although I’ve never heard of it and I’m a nurse. Anyway, one eye is fine now- don’t see any floaters now but the other eye has a blurry spot that hasn’t gone away for months. Dr said it may be permanent and it’s frustrating. And the spot moves when my eye moves. It’s making it harder to read. Dr told me to use OTC reading glasses 2+ and that really helps. Maybe try that. And BTW, your lighting is fine.

I had floaters a number if years ago but they all resolved with tine. Mine were not as intense as yours but they did resolve.

I’ve had eye flutters and use to feel the same way. I attest my situation to over using reader glasses instead of going to the eye doctor. It’s the left eye for me. I sometimes have to close my eye tight and open up to focus

Sorry to hear. Hope it gets better soon! x

I had floaters for about 2 years. Then my doctor said I shouldn't drive. Then I didn't go to the eye doctor for two more years then My regular doctor told me my sight was in danger. By the time I went to eye doctor I was scared. But he told me I cataract's. That I could wait longer but let me decide if I wanted to go ahead and decided to have the surgery. Which I wasn't having the floaters any longer. I suggest you get second opinion from a eye specialist.

I haven't had a detachment, but I have had floaters for many years (I'm currently 47). I was told by my optometrist to not rub my eyes, which will help them to settle out of view. Rubbing will cause them to continue to float. I always get new ones and you do get used to them, but there are times when I think there is a bug and I "swap" it away. I feel for you. ❤ Please give it a chance to settle a bit out of view and see if not rubbing helps.🤞🏻9:09

The lighting is just fine, didn't bother me one bit. Hang in there Mary Ellen. Much love.

Oh Mary Ellen!! I’m still watching but just wanted to send you some love. I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this and I thank you for bringing awareness. I had no idea! Please keep your chin up and hang in there. I have heard how AMAZING our brain and eyes are and how the brain totally fills and and compensates for any deficiencies. I believe your doctor! Try to be positive and also give yourself to feel grace…but acknowledge and take note of it and try not to sit in it ( I know that’s easier said than done) Hugs and love. Ok back to the video! Oh and I don’t mind the lighting!

Oh, sweet MaryEllen, you share what you want…no more, no less. We are on your channel because we all care about you, and Bumble.😉. I haven’t had Covid or floaters, so I can’t help there. You take care

I am 62 and have had floaters off and on for many years. The doctor did finally I had them before I noticed them too bad. They do get worse at times but they also get better off and on. Mine look like what people like in a microscope😅

Girl, you could plan with all the lights off using a flashlight and we would watch!! Also, we don't mind you talking about your health issues...your videos feel like we are just sitting around and talking like friends. I'm so sorry you are going through this!

Having worn glasses since I was 9, I am also very sensitive about issues with my eyes/vision. I totally get it. Maybe you can wear sunglasses while you film so you're not sacrificing your lighting.

I was just diagnosed with MS and one of the symptoms is floaters and “lightening bolts”. It’s crazy! Look around for a good eye doctor and take care of yourself

I developed a floater in my right eye this summer after having cataract surgery it’s annoying. I have one and it seems large. I went to the eye doctor and he said it is a permanent condition. They eventually fade to the back of the eye, and you seem to ignore them after a while. at this point, I’ve been dealing with it for two months and I found that if I keep my eye still and focus, I don’t see it, but the faster I move my eyes back-and-forth makes its presence known.

I have vitreous detachment in both eyes. Mine started during a bad storm and we had lost power. I was walking down the hall to go to bed and saw a large silvery flash of light out of my left eye. I thought it was lightning. I went to the eye doctor and they told me the same as you. My right eye eventually had the same happen. The brain really does adjust. I edited this post from what I wrote initially because of what you said, so...I will say that it truly does get better, but in all honesty, you "may" have to make changes. Maybe not. We're all different.

Here's a little encouragement...I am not really affected by light. And most importantly, I can continue working on one of my main hobbies...diamond painting!

Hello Mary Ellen the light was fine. And your spread is amazing. I would like to encourage you to get a second or even a third opinion from Eye specialists on your condition. Stay positive even though it’s difficult. I will pray for you.

I actually saw a specialist at an eye hospital near me when it happened, seeing my own eye doctor in a month.

I'm so sorry. I had Covid again a couple of weeks ago. It has been rampant lately. And yes, I got a lot of new floaters a couple of years ago. You really do get used to it. Really. You still see them sometimes, but your brain just kind of ignores them. I know it's hard and scary because you've already been through so much with your vision. My dad had amblyopia, too. It was never corrected and he was very protective of his good eye because that was the only one he had.
@PlanningwithBumbleАй бұрын
Yeah my vision already wasn’t good because of the amblyopia and nearsightedness and astigmatism. I’ve had vision issues my whole life and have had probably 6 eye surgeries

The red marks on the paper are from your nails. Pretty spread. You will get through this. The Lord is testing you to make you stronger. You know what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. You are probably stronger than most. It feels like a lot but just know you will get through it and be a light for others. 😘 you are being refined, you know the refiners fire thing? Just pray for comfort and the Lord will bless you with it, I promise. I’m praying for comfort for you as well.
