I don’t do goal-setting per se; I did a Values exercise on my birthday in 2023 where I did a deep dive on what I consider my values (I landed on 12), explored the origin of each and gave myself a current rating 1-5 (how is my life reflecting that I value this right now). Then I listed things I can do to improve/support each value and scheduled quarterly check-ins where I reflect, brainstorm, etc. This has worked amazingly well for me and I have seen incredible growth and improvement in so many areas of my life in the last year. I did an annual check-in on my last birthday and plan to continue with quarterly check-ins this year. It’s been a really great system for me.

Wow this sounds like such a great system, thank you for sharing! It sounds similar to how the 12 week year book recommends brainstorming about your values. Sounds like a really helpful way to get direction and stay on track with what matters most. I’m so happy to hear you’ve had a great experience with it. I hope you end up liking the theme better over the month, because I think it’s beautiful! I usually try to build habits that work towards a goal because that seems to work better for my specific goals than a list of tasks I need to complete. The concepts of the 12 Week Year make a lot of sense to me, but because of the way I think of my goals I can’t figure out how to make them fit into the system. I’m waiting for the book from the library so I can get a clearer idea 😅

Haha I hope it grows on me as well! Maybe I’ll experiment with some different colors on the weeklies, but I’m glad you liked it :) That’s so cool that you’re looking into the 12 week year! You’ll have to let me know how you like the book. It’s a little repetitive but still such a quick read that I didn’t mind. And I felt it really spoke to me about the pitfalls of annual goals. I’m excited to see how much I can get done in these next 12 weeks - the short timeline is already so motivating!

I think the theme is really beautiful, but I do think the pink clashes a bit too much with the gold. Maybe if you used a color that is closer to gold it would work better. Nevertheless, still a beautiful theme!
